Tool Maker Class A Machinist
- Read and interpret engineering blueprints, drawings, and specifications to understand tool requirements.
- Use a variety of precision manual machining equipment such as lathes, milling machines, grinders, and drills to manufacture, modify, and repair tools and fixtures.
- Perform precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments to ensure accuracy and quality of finished products.
- Utilize conventional machining techniques, including turning, milling, drilling, and grinding, to shape and finish workpieces.
- Set up and operate manual machines to produce parts according to specifications.
- Collaborate with engineers and tool designers to provide input and suggestions for tool design and improvement.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to tooling and fixtures to ensure smooth production flow.
- Maintain and repair existing tools, dies, and fixtures to ensure their longevity and functionality.
- Perform routine maintenance on machines and equipment to keep them in optimal working condition.
- Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or vocational training in machining or tool making is preferred.
- Basic understanding of metallurgy, types of metals and welding.
- Extensive experience as a Tool Maker or Class A Machinist in a manufacturing or machining environment.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Strong knowledge of manual machining techniques and equipment operation.
- Familiarity with CAD/CAM software and CNC machining is a plus.
- Excellent understanding of precision measuring instruments and their application.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
