Senior Product Manager, Developer Platform
Since we opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely, and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take payments and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn’t work together.
So we expanded into software and started building integrated, omnichannel solutions – to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, offer buy now, pay later functionality, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. Across it all, we’ve embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow in one place. Afterpay furthers our goal to provide omnichannel tools that unlock meaningful value and growth, enabling sellers to capture the next generation shopper, increase order sizes, and compete at a larger scale. Today, we are a partner to sellers of all sizes – large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex operations, sellers just starting, as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. As our sellers grow, so do our solutions. There is a massive opportunity in front of us. We’re building a significant, meaningful, and lasting business, and we are helping sellers worldwide do the same. The Role
The Developer Platform team at Square helps sellers better run and grow their business through remarkable 3rd-party developer and partner solutions. We’re looking for a Senior Product Manager to lead the strategy and direction for our suite of payment APIs and SDKs, which help sellers integrate Square with 3rd-party point of sale systems and mobile applications. You’ll work closely with Engineering, Design, Partnerships, Sales and Account Management to help attract and retain some of Square’s largest sellers, by delivering intuitive and scalable developer solutions.
You Will
- Own the vision, strategy and execution for our suite of in-person and mobile payment APIs and SDKs (Terminal API, Mobile Payments SDK, In-App Payments SDK, Point of Sale API)
- Use data and customer insights to make informed product decisions and measure success
- Work closely with sellers, partners and 3rd-party developers to deeply understand their payment processes, pain points and needs
- Work with engineering and design teams to deliver new features and capabilities, and to launch existing products in new markets
- Collaborate with teams across Square (Hardware, Payments, Product Marketing, Partnerships, Sales, Account Management, Solutions Engineering, Technical Writers, Developer Relations, Developer Success) to drive alignment, influence product direction, deliver products to market, and meet payment processing revenue goals
You Have
8+ years of product management experience, with demonstrated success building complex developer, enterprise or B2B products
Experience shipping APIs or SDKs for an external developer audience, or prior work experience as a software developer; mobile or payments experience is a plus
Ability to articulate a compelling long-term vision and strategy for your product area, while breaking it down into actionable milestones
Strong analytical skills; experience using metrics to drive product decisions and measure success
A track record of working collaboratively with product delivery and go-to-market teams, as well as working directly with external customers and partners
Excellent communication skills; can drive clarity and alignment with large cross-functional teams
