We are looking for a Capital Infrastructure Projects Professional to work in Irvine, CA and various unanticipated worksites in the US.
In this role, you will:
Assist the Resident Engineer and/or Project Manager in administering, ensuring compliance with, and overseeing the construction contract. Provide interpretation of contract plans and specifications and review contractor shop drawings and submittals for contract compliance, as applicable. Conduct daily field inspections to ensure contractor activities comply with Special Provisions, Department of Transportation Standard Specifications, the Department of Transportation Construction Manual, and other relevant guidelines. Monitor traffic control, paving, structures, bridges, drainage, SWPPP, and grading activities on active freeway projects. Prepare detailed inspection reports, quantity logs, photographs, and daily diaries using Department of Transportation standard reporting formats. Maintain as-built record drawings, project files, and databases, including specifications, material test results, and reports. Interact daily with clients, designers, stakeholders, contractors, and inspectors. Oversee the performance of construction contractors to ensure deliverables are completed per construction plans, specifications, budget, and schedule. Build strong relationships, ensure alignment, and resolve project issues productively. Oversee Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) operations, ensuring signage, signaling, and traffic management systems comply with project specifications. Review and process traffic lane closures using the Department of Transportation Lane Closure System. Coordinate with the contractor, District Traffic Manager, CHP, stakeholders, and adjacent projects to ensure smooth and incident-free operations. Review and approve contractor monthly schedule submittals and pay estimates. Coordinate testing and monitoring services, as well as quality control inspections. Also coordinate with Jacobs sub-consultants. Review and respond to RFIs, submittals, and other project deliverables. Analyze construction claims, PCRs, and TIAs in detail. Deliver auditable summaries and present research with visual markups to support client mediation efforts. Prepare agendas and meeting minutes, conduct pre-construction meetings, and assist in preparing final project close-out documents. Review inspector daily reports for conformance with project requirements, plans, specifications, quantities, contractor progress, and as-constructed data. Assist in reviewing and assembling monthly progress payments and processing Extra Work Bills. Prepare Weekly Statement of Working Days and Weekly Status Reports. Perform required duties as assigned by the Resident Engineer, including minor design changes and modifications. Assist in preparation for Business Development pursuits and proposals and perform Construction Scheduling using Primavera P6.
TRAVEL: 40% domestic travel to multiple worksites.

REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Civil Engineering or related field and 2 years work experience in the job offered or related occupation in Traffic and Transportation Engineering.
As an alternative, employer will accept a bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Civil Engineering or related field and 4 years work experience in the job offered or related occupation in Traffic and Transportation Engineering.
SPECIFIC SKILLS: Expertise and knowledge of: Working in infrastructure projects, including temporary traffic control, traffic management, SWPPP, drainage, and road/highway paving operations. Federal Highway Administration requirements and funding process. Responding to RFIs and submittals on highway projects. Supporting Department of Transportation clients, including use of the Lane Closure System and Internet Extra Work Bills Processing System. Construction claims review and contract change order management. Design-Build transportation projects. Working under a major Construction Management Consultant (CM firm) on publicly funded infrastructure projects. Tools such as advanced MS Excel and VBA, Microsoft Office Suite, Procore, Bluebeam, ArcGIS, and Caltrans CEM forms.

The base salary range for this position is $136,968.00 to $150,000.00; though will be paid hourly based on hours worked. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
