Parish: St. Patrick Catholic Church 

Location: 3821 Adams St, Carlsbad, CA, 92008 

Reports to: Office Manager

Employment Type: Full time 

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Salary: $25 - $30 per hour, based on experience

Position Summary:
This position directs the finance functions for the Parish. Assures compliance with local, state and federal laws/regulations along with Diocesan norms and policies. 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

  • Assures the management of all financial resource systems of the Parish, including accounting and bookkeeping systems.
  • Incumbent will utilize “Cloud-based” versions of QuickBooks and Parish Data Systems (PDS) software for daily accounting and recordkeeping.
  • Incumbent will be skilled in the use of Microsoft Office 365 programs – Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Will work with the Parish’s Office Manager for the budgeting and expenses involved in the management of the Parish’s assets (FF & E). This will include employee salary records, new office and building equipment and repairs (including IT equipment), maintenance equipment and supplies and Parish insurance matters.
  • Assures preparation and administration of capital and annual operating budgets for the parish and Diocese. Assures accurate and confidential record keeping systems.
  • Serves as staff resource person for various consultative groups including Finance Council and Building Committee. Provides training to those serving on councils and commissions.
  • Maintains a level of knowledge and skills required for this position. Participates in weekly staff meetings, monthly and quarterly Diocesan Administrator meetings, training workshops, conferences, and maintains membership in professional organizations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • College bachelor’s degree or equivalent in finance, accounting, communication or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years successful work experience managing business enterprise(s).
  • Demonstrated work experience managing financial systems.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize and honor diversity within the parish community.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Able to honor and maintain confidentiality.
  • Valid California Drivers’ license.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to remain in an office at a computer workstation and access information from a computer and use a telephone. The employee is required to be mobile to, from, and within the office, as well as maneuver throughout the school facility to attend meetings, briefings, and other work-related events. The employee may be required to conduct trips to, from, and within various city and county-wide locations to attend meetings or events. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. This position may require evening and weekend work.
