Software Engineer, Router

The Waymo Driver has provided over one million rider-only trips, enabled by its experience autonomously driving tens of millions of miles on public roads and tens of billions in simulation across 13+ U.S. states.

The router team takes a user defined config and generate service quality metrics over 10s of thousands of routes. Additionally we work on tools that diffs those service quality metrics allowing people to visualize and understand the service quality changes and another tool that categorizes / prioritizes the causes of unnecessarily long routes. Our team works on generating a human understandable explanation by analyzing why the service quality is bad for specific portions of the map.

You will:

• Report into an Engineering Manager


• Build infrastructure to prioritize company wide efforts to achieve service quality goals


• Predict the service quality impact for any behavioral change and make it easy to understand why the service quality changed.

You have:

• BS degree in Computer Science, Robotics, similar technical field of study, or 4+ years equivalent practical experience


• Experience with large-scale distributed systems


• Experience writing C++ code

We prefer:

• Experience with Machine Learning


• Experience with data analysis

The expected base salary range for this full-time position across US locations is listed below. Actual starting pay will be based on job-related factors, including exact work location, experience, relevant training and education, and skill level. $170,000—$216,000 USD
