Position Summary
GEICO is seeking an experienced Engineer with a passion for building high-performance, low maintenance, zero-downtime platforms, and applications powered by Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. You will help drive our insurance business transformation as we transition from a traditional IT model to a tech organization with engineering excellence as its mission, while co-creating the culture of psychological safety and continuous improvement.

Position Description
The Senior Engineer (Software/Machine Learning) reports to a Senior Staff Engineering Manager of Document Platform under GEICO Platform Engineering organization. This tech lead works with other engineers to innovate and build a unified and modernized document management system that integrates with multiple business applications to serve critical business processes. You will lead the strategy and execution of the technical roadmap of the document intelligence sub-area of the entire document management platform. The ideal candidate has deep technical expertise in both general AI/ML , Document AI and production-ready software system development.

Position Responsibilities
As a Senior Engineer, you will:
Focus on building and operating machine learning models that will be consumed in document management domain contribute to the end-to-end ML system building.
Coordinate and collaborate with product managers, engineering team members and customers to solve complex problems
Leverage open-source frameworks and embrace the cloud native development paradigm
Mentor and help coach and strengthen the technical expertise and know-how of our engineering and product community
Always push for engineering excellence; Consistently share best practices and improve processes within and across teams.

Qualifications
Fluency and specialization with at least two modern languages such as Java, Golang, Python or C# including object-oriented design
Working knowledge and experience of building data intensive large-scale systems with focus on fault-tolerance and throughput
Extensive knowledge and experience in AI/ML models, algorithms, and MLOps best practices
Expertise of building enterprise-grade AI/ML products at scale
Experience in Document Intelligence related product development
Experience building products of micro-services oriented architecture and extensible REST APIs
Experience building the architecture and design of new and current systems (architecture, design patterns, reliability, and scaling)
Fluency in DevOps concepts and best practices in CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as a code
Experience with application performance monitoring tools and performance assessments
In-depth knowledge of CS data structures and algorithms
Experience with solving analytical problems with quantitative approaches
Ability to excel in a fast-paced, startup-like environment
Knowledge of developer tooling across the software development life cycle (task management, source code, building, deployment, operations, real-time communication)

Experience
5+ years of professional software development experience on large-scale distributed systems for high-traffic internet applications or business-critical enterprise systems
5+ years of building custom AI/ML models with main-stream machine learning algorithms
4+ years of experience in open-source frameworks
3+ years of experience with AI/ML frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.
3+ years of experience with MLOps frameworks like MLflow, Kubeflow, etc.

Education
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience

Annual Salary

$105,000.00 - $215,000.00

The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidates work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
