Annual Giving and Grants Manager

Pay Range: $80-$85K/year, DOE

Reporting to the Director of Philanthropy, the Annual Giving and Grants Manager enhances PRNSA’s fundraising success through grant writing, membership giving, donor relations, fundraising campaigns, and membership and community events. The position is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to grow individual membership and annual giving while managing a portfolio of foundation and government grants. This key role requires strong writing and grants management experience, a solid understanding of fundraising principles, and the ability to build and maintain donor relationships. The ideal candidate is a motivated and collaborative professional who can inspire supporters, craft compelling narratives, and manage multiple fundraising initiatives to advance PRNSA’s mission of environmental education, conservation, stewardship, and preservation of public lands. Key Responsibilities: Fundraising Planning and Annual Giving (60–70%)
- Collaborate with the Director of Philanthropy and the Philanthropy team to help develop the annual fundraising plan, set revenue goals, and monitor progress toward benchmarks.
- Analyze fundraising performance and data to inform strategies, improve outcomes, and set future goals.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for membership acquisition, retention, and upgrades.
- Serve as a key team member for PRNSA’s annual fundraising dinner, including planning, stewardship, and executing day-of-event activities.
- Support the Director of Philanthropy in major donor activities, including research, materials preparation, and meeting coordination.
- Manage an assigned portfolio of individual and institutional donors, ensuring thoughtful cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
- Plan, execute, and manage annual giving campaigns and member communications—including year-end appeals, giving days, acknowledgements, and renewal cycles—across digital, direct mail, and social media channels.
- Collaborate with the Communications Manager and Philanthropy Team to ensure donor messaging aligns with PRNSA’s communications plan and brand standards.
- Use segmentation and data analysis to personalize outreach and optimize fundraising performance.
- Collaborate with the Philanthropy Stewardship Manager to manage membership recognition programs, including benefits, acknowledgments, and event access for supporters.
- Manage and optimize online giving platforms and digital fundraising tools to enhance donor experience and giving outcomes.
- Research and identify foundation and grant opportunities aligned with PRNSA’s priorities.
- Work with the Director of Philanthropy and Executive Director to prepare and submit grant proposals, budgets, and supporting materials, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with funder guidelines.
- Coordinate with program and leadership staff to gather data, stories, and outcomes for proposals and reports.
- Track submissions, deadlines, and reporting requirements using PRNSA’s grant management systems.
- Monitor grant-funded activities and expenditures to ensure alignment with approved budgets and funder expectations.
- Work with the program staff to prepare and submit timely progress and final reports.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with foundation representatives and program officers.
- Recommend and implement improvements to grant management processes and systems.
- Stay current with best practices and trends in grant writing and management.
- Support the Philanthropy Coordinator and serve as backup to maintain accurate donor and grant records in PRNSA’s CRM/database system and oversee acknowledgment of gifts and donations.
- Collaborate with teams to plan and promote fundraisers, webinars, programs, and outreach activities.
- Represent PRNSA positively with park personnel, donors, volunteers, and the public.
- Participate in cross-department committees and key organizational events as assigned.
- Perform other duties and special projects as needed to support the Philanthropy Department and organizational goals.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in fundraising, including annual giving/membership programs and grant writing, preferably within an environmental or conservation-focused nonprofit.
- Demonstrated track record of meeting or exceeding fundraising goals, including securing grants and managing grant-funded projects in compliance with funder requirements.
- Strong understanding of fundraising principles, best practices, and digital engagement strategies (email, social media, online giving platforms).
- Experience identifying, researching, and cultivating new donor prospects and funding opportunities.
- Skilled communicator with excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills; ability to present publicly and collaborate effectively across teams.
- Exceptional organizational and project management skills; ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Attention to detail, accuracy, and accountability in all work.
- Cultural competence and the ability to incorporate diverse perspectives.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, CRM/donor database systems, and fundraising platforms.
- Ability to work independently with limited direction and collaboratively within a team.
- Professionalism, discretion, and the ability to maintain appropriate boundaries and confidentiality.
- Flexibility, tact, diplomacy, and a sense of humor in navigating complex situations.
- Passion for storytelling and inspiring donors and the public about PRNSA’s mission and impact.
- Experience in nonprofit administration, environmental sciences, parks, or conservation preferred.
- Commitment to social and environmental justice and welcoming all communities to public lands.
- Valid California driver’s license and ability to travel locally as needed.
- Flexibility to work outside of standard business hours, including evenings and weekends as required; and to work on-site in Point Reyes, California
Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent experience. Physical Demands and Work Environment
This position requires up to 6+hours per day sitting, talking, and listening; standing and walking for up to 3 hours per day; 5+ hours per day at the computer keying and reaching with arms and hands; and lifting up to 35 pounds.
