Budget Analyst
Job Description and Duties
Under the direction of the Correctional Business Manager I. This position is assigned a variety of analytical tasks associated with the Budget of San Quentin Rehabilitation Center. Track and oversee all budgeting and expenditures within the institution, analyze operational trends and maintain supporting documentation. Prepare mid-year review for submission to the Department.
Analyze, review, and make recommendations and proposals on various departmental requests and issues affecting institutional operations, including, but not limited to, over-crowding, ratio positions, vacancies, and efficiency measures. Prepare and review of various budgetary schedules required of San Quentin by headquarters for preparation of the Departmental Budget (Schedule 7A, 8, etc.). Develops annual Budget Change Concept Requests and Proposals for submission to headquarters. Reviews documents involving establishment, modifications, or abolishment of positions for budgeting implications. Assist in the maintenance and reconciliation of the Post Assignment Schedule to the authorized Personnel Roster. Conduct meetings with departmental heads and make recommendations concerning budgetary changes needed.

Working Conditions
San Quentin Rehab Center is California’s oldest and best-known correctional institution, which was established on the site currently known as Point San Quentin, in July of 1852, as an answer to the rampant lawlessness in California at the time. The prison rests overlooking the bay on 432 acres and is located just 12 miles north of the Golden Gate Bridge in the county of Marin. The walled prison is made up of four (4) large cell blocks (West, South, North, and East Block), one (1) maximum security cell block (the Adjustment Center), Central Health Care Service Building, a medium security dorm setting and a minimum-security firehouse.

Candidates new to CDCR/CCHCS are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, as well as a Tuberculosis test/evaluation prior to appointment, followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.
