Support Services Assistant - General
Job Description and Duties
This position is located in the city of Stockton .
Under the direct supervision of the Staff Services Manager I (SSMI), and with guidance from the designated employees, the Support Services Assistant (SSA) is responsible for providing reasonable accommodations associated with work-related activities to support persons with disabilities with performing necessary job assignments, including handling confidential information, and providing a comfortable work environment (attendant care). This position requires an in-person work schedule. The employee will be required to report to the office as needed.
Under Government Code 14200, this position is a hybrid, in-office/telework position, and may be subject to change. Incumbent must live and work in California. Incumbent can be required to report to the office, or any designated location at any time. Telework agreements can be modified and/or cancelled at any time.

Working Conditions
Permanent Intermittent employees are not allowed to work more than 1500 hours in a calendar year. The anticipated time worked will be 125 hours per month. If selected, the employee will receive an hourly compensation based on the number of hours worked.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Physical tasks will include assisting a person with a disability who utilizes a cane, manual and or electric wheelchair. This person will need assistance in the restroom transferring from the wheelchair to the toilet and back. He may also need help with meals by opening wrappers and tight lids.
This position involves lifting, standing, bending, and on occasion driving and operating a full-size wheelchair accessible van. Assisting with transfer to and from vehicle to wheelchair, and restroom including but not limited to restroom stall.
The incumbent must have the ability to work up to 30 hours per week and remain at a workstation for extended periods while utilizing a personal computer, peripherals, and other office equipment with or without accommodations. Strong interpersonal skills are required to interact effectively with consumers, the public, colleagues, and other stakeholders. Essential duties are performed at the DOR office in a cubicle setting in an open office environment , as well as offsite in the community, at events and various partner locations, as determined by management. Additionally, some travel within the state is required.
