Analyst II
Job Description and Duties
Under the direction of the PSB Supervisor I, the Analyst II is the PSB subject matter expert for the statewide administration of the PSB criminal history background procedures and processes associated with Department of Developmental Services (Department) staff and the Self Determination Program (SDP) and Family Home Agency (FHA) programs. Analyst II performs the more difficult and complex analytical and administrative assignments associated with PSB criminal history background procedures and processes for individuals and assists PSB relative to criminal history background records and data management.
Effective July 1, 2025, State employees are subject to a salary reduction of three percent in exchange for five hours per month of the Personal Leave.

Working Conditions
Pursuant to California Government Code requirements, candidates must be residents of the State of California at the time of appointment.
This position requires lawful authorization to work in the United States. The Department does not sponsor employment visas for this position.
Work is performed in an open-spaced, partitioned office environment. Working on a computer the majority of the work day.
The Analyst II has frequent contact with their immediate supervisor, various managers/ supervisors within the Department, the public, and regional center staff, in completing assigned tasks and performing daily functions.
The Analyst II is required to pass a criminal history review based on DOJ/FBI fingerprint clearance prior to employment.
Special Requirements
The Protective Services Branch (PSB) is a Law Enforcement Agency. After the background check clears, the applicant will be appointed to the position. This background check includes interviews of employment and personal references; and FBI, California DOJ finger print clearances and DMV clearance(s). The selected applicant must complete a notarized waiver for access to their personal records.
The Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) must be numbered in the same order as the following areas, typed in 12-point Arial font, single spaced, and be no more than one page in length. Applicants who fail to answer the questions or submit an SOQ may not be considered.
- Describe a time when you used data to inform program or policy recommendations to your leadership or management team.
- Describe your experience reviewing, analyzing and interpreting laws, policies, and regulations.
If you are using list eligibility from an on-line exam to qualify for this position, you MUST include with your application any documentation (i.e., copy of transcript, degree, license, etc.) to verify meeting the MQ’s or you may not be considered for the position.
The MQs will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment. If it is determined that an applicant does not meet the MQs of the classification, the applicant may not be considered and withheld from the eligible list.

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
- Demonstrate the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to organize/prioritize workload to meet demands.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Experience working with a database and data analysis.
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of the California developmental disabilities, the regional center service system, and protocols in the California State Government.
