Manager, Social Work
Starting Salary Range: $84,495 - $101,395
GGRC is hiring for an Manager, Social Work who will be reporting to the Director of Regional Center Services to provide management direction, including oversight of case management, and advocacy of the GGRC San Mateo County office
This position will be based out of our office in San Mateo in a hybrid schedule. Local travel within the Counties of San Francisco, San Mateo and Marin will be required. Occasional statewide travel to sites throughout California will also be required. In addition, access to reliable transportation permitting travel to and between many different locations throughout the day in order to perform the outlined responsibilities of the position will be required.
Responsibilities
- Management of Regional Center Services to Individuals and Families
- Define and monitor expectations of staff based upon agency policy.
- Direct through line staff the delivery of clinical and social work services to those served and their families at a local level.
- Interprets policy within the guidelines set forth by the agency and consults with peers to ensure consistency between counties. Escalate requests for policy development or revision to Director Regional Center Services
- Oversee the synchronization activities between social work staff and Community Services regarding resource development, quality assurance, and quality management.
- Represents the agency in the informal hearings as requested by the Director, Regional Center Services.
- Draft and implement internal procedures and provide leadership to ensure mandated services are provided to those served and families outreach and prevention efforts.
- Manage the POS function for local office to ensure requests are appropriately documented and timely and efficiently and appropriately administered.
- Oversee the coordination of premises issues as requested.
- Interface with those served, service providers, and staff to resolve simple and complex issues
- Policy Interpretation and Leadership (in conjunction with other Center Managers)
- Continuously assess current processes and procedures directly related to the delivery of services to those served, and as part of a team:
- Collect all documented procedures and document unwritten procedures.
- Develop and apply tools to assess the impact of processes and procedures on service delivery.
- Document areas in need of improvement
- Realign processes and procedures to reflect the established values and principles of GGRC.
- Develop comprehensive and integrated solutions with implementation plans to address areas in need of improvement.
- Provide leadership at the County level to engage staff in organizational changes.
- Staff Management
- Oversee the hiring and supervision of the social work staff.
- Manage workflow and staff time/work coverage, ensuring individual and Department goals are being met.
- Hold regular group and individual staff meetings to disseminate information and provide opportunities for feedback on operations.
- Provide leadership which enables staff to efficiently utilize time and resource.
- Oversee the supervision of, or supervises, the hiring and management of office assistant staff.
- Recommend specific training for staff to attend and continuing activity for professional development.
- Ensure that regular performance evaluations of staff are given in a timely and constructive manner.
- Quality Management
- Coordinate with peers to develop systems to collect data on the success of regional center services provided and purchased.
- Exemplify and articulate the Agency’s strategies and performance standards on outcomes for people served.
- Inform staff on the County Office’s performance success.
- Ensure the services being provided are properly documented and comply with the state and agency requirements.
- Coordinate with Quality Assurance to monitor services funded by GGRC and provided by vendored agencies to ensure that services are consistent with the vision and values of the agency.
- Community Outreach
- Act as community liaison and Agency representative in addressing community-based concerns and needs.
- Make recommendations for training for providers and those served in the community.
- Coordinate with Vendorization Department to identify and recruit specialized vendors to address community needs.
- Provide public information and education regarding regional center services and constituent needs.
- Conduct research for and makes recommendations regarding draft Memoranda of Understanding and similar agreements with other community organizations to better served those served.
- Participate in special projects, and assist with additional duties or tasks, as assigned.
- Maintain all client information as confidential in compliance with the federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) and the California Lanterman Act
Requirements
Education
- Master’s degree in Social Work or related human services field. Leadership experience within Regional Center may be a substitute for Master’s degree requirement.
- Graduate degree in Management, Human Services with emphasis in Management or equivalent preferred.
- Significant course work towards a graduate degree in management and/or business administration may be considered.
Experience
- Demonstrated ability to manage within a dynamic environment with successful results-oriented outcomes.
- 5+ years’ work experience in dynamic organizations, or non-profits.
- 3+ years of management/leadership experience in a Human Services or related field
- Previous work experience in a Regional Center preferred.

- Ability to prepare statistical and narrative reports.
- Knowledge of the principles of advocacy and community organization.
- Ability to effectively run meetings, soliciting input from attendees while maintaining focus and structure.
