DEPARTMENT SUMMARY: The Marketing & Communications department is responsible for the Center’s storytelling and brand identity. This dynamic team has a wide range of competencies, including but not limited to special event creation and execution, digital marketing and social media, influencer and VIP strategy, public relations and crisis communications, graphic design, photo and video shoot production, audience development, website creation and maintenance, and more. We strive to make our internal and external communications as excellent and diverse as the services provided at the Los Angeles LGBT Center.

JOB SUMMARY: The Brand Designer is responsible for executing creative concepts across the Center’s programs, services, events, campaigns, and activities. This role supports branding and design development, ensuring alignment with the Center’s visual identity and strategic goals and collaborates closely with the Creative Director, incorporates feedback, and prepares production-ready assets for digital and print platforms. This position will participate in planning meetings, stakeholder discussions, and high-impact moments such as breaking news and crisis coverage and will play a key role in maintaining design quality, creative integrity, and timely project delivery.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

· Execute conceptual design direction for projects across the Center’s programs, services, events, campaigns, and activities, incorporating design feedback from the Creative Director

· Pitch design/branding concepts for key Center-related initiatives, including special events, social media campaigns, advertising, etc. as necessary

· Ensure creative integrity and brand fidelity across all design projects and activities

· Utilize Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop to bring concepts to life with necessary illustration, page layout, and photo retouching skills

· Assist in preparing and delivering final, production-ready art files based on platform and printing specifications

· Maintain organized art files to facilitate accessibility and collaboration with the Creative team

· Engage and participate with team in assigned roles during breaking news, special events, and crisis coverage and actively participate in team brainstorming, planning activities, and meetings

· Professionally represent the Center at internal and external community and stakeholder-related meetings, functions, events, and activities

· Maintain a list of deadlines and projects in association with the Project Manager and the departments assigned project management software

· Other duties as assigned

JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

· Experience working with the LGBT community and familiarity with issues of particular relevance to LGBT people

· A passion for the Center’s work and its mission to make the world a better place for LGBT people

· Minimum 3 years of design experience

· Online portfolio displays a wide range of recent print, digital, and spatial projects in a variety of design styles

· Advanced proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat Pro) and Microsoft Office Suite

· Familiarity with social media platforms

· High comfort level in stakeholder input meetings with an understanding of how to ask questions that get to the core of the design problem

· Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with a high level of attention to detail

· Proven experience working in a collaborative team environment with an ability to listen to and reflect feedback

· A creative and detail-orientated self-starter who can work quickly and independently in a fast-paced campaign environment, managing multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines

· Willingness and ability to work evenings and weekends when necessary

· Working knowledge of Canva and motion graphics a plus

· Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse races, ethnicities, nationalities, sexual orientations, gender identities, gender expression, socio-economic backgrounds, religions, ages, English-speaking abilities, immigration status, and physical abilities in a multicultural enviro
