Sterile Processing Technician Job Details

• Location: Madison, WI 53792 (Wisconsin healthcare jobs)
• Assignment Type: Locum Tenens (Travel Contract)
• Healthcare Setting: Hospital – Supply Chain, Sterile Processing Department
• Start Date: October 6, 2025
• End Date: January 5, 2026
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: Evenings, Monday – Friday, 3:30 PM – 11:30 PM (8-hour shifts)
• Hours per Week: 40
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1200 - $1230
• Flu Vaccine: Required (Medical/Religious Exemptions Only)
• Orientation: 1 week at assignment start

Sterile Processing Tech Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Minimum 2 years of recent experience in sterile processing or reprocessing in an academic Level 1 or Level 2 trauma center or large hospital
• Current certification by CBSPD (Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician) or IAHCSMM/HSPA (Certified Registered Central Service Technician)
• Permanent residence must be outside a 50-mile radius of Madison, WI
• Ability to pass facility competency and pass/fail testing
• Proficient with a wide range of surgical instrumentation and reprocessing equipment

Sterile Processing Technician Responsibilities

• Decontaminate, clean, sterilize, and reprocess patient equipment, surgical instruments, and medical supplies for all hospital departments
• Demonstrate expertise in evolving instrumentation, sterilization techniques, and reprocessing technology
• Work efficiently in a fast-paced, detail-oriented hospital environment
• Ensure patient safety by following strict sterilization protocols and accurate documentation
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to support surgical and procedural areas
• Utilize state-of-the-art surgical and reprocessing technology
• Float to other hospital units as needed based on staffing requirements
