The ideal Lead Digital modeler candidate is…

• Someone that has extensive experience in exterior and interior digital modeling either from 2D sketches and or 3D sketch models from designers.
• Skilled at fast paced exterior/interior design modeling with good surface quality/high lights.
• Know how to rebuild models from clay model scan into NURBS surfaces.
• Skilled in sub-d sketch modeling using either Alias sub-d tools or Blender.
• Project leader, leading lower level modelers, mentoring them, delegating responsibilities within the group working on the project. Be the liaison between design, engineering and CAS to stay current on design and or engineering changes then share that info with the rest of the modelers working on the project while keeping modeling manager apprised of latest status of the project.
• Prepare models for milling or printing. coordinate, follow up with mill operators or 3D print specialist through the process to ensure good outcome.
• Step up to temporarily manage the modeling team when manager is away on business trips, vacation or sick leave.
• Position requires the person to be quick on his/her feet, be flexible, adaptable to be ready for fast paced design and engineering changes.
• Exterior modeling expert is preferred. Class A level modeling experience is desired but not required.

On a day-to-day basis, the HDCA Lead Digital Modeler will: Build digital model base on design directions from designer, lead the project he or she

is assigned to, help modeling manager mentor lower level modelers when needed.

• Bachelors Degree or Equivalent Experience
• Up to 10 years of hands on experience creating CAS Models for major automotive manufacturer (experience may be concurrent).
• Required to be skilled at fast paced exterior/interior design modeling with good surface quality(good high lights) either from 2D sketches and or 3D sketch design directions from designer.
  • SUB-D modeling and class-A modeling experience preferred not absolutely required.
