HR Business Partner

Job Summary

A respected higher education institution in the Inland Empire, is seeking an experienced HR Business Partner. This role is ideal for a strategic HR professional who excels in employee relations, leadership coaching, workplace investigations, compliance, and organizational support.

The HR Business Partner will work closely with campus leadership and department managers to strengthen workplace culture, resolve complex employee matters, and support fair, consistent HR practices. Key Responsibilities

- Serve as a trusted HR advisor to managers, department leaders, and campus leadership on employee relations and HR best practices.
- Lead complex employee relations matters, including conflict resolution, performance concerns, workplace investigations, corrective actions, and documentation.
- Coach leaders on performance management, progressive discipline, policy interpretation, and effective employee communication.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, including California labor laws and Title IX-related employee matters.
- Partner with leadership on employee engagement, retention strategies, organizational change, workforce planning, and HR process improvement.
- Analyze HR trends and recommend proactive solutions to improve employee satisfaction and organizational effectiveness.

Compensation and Benefits

- Salary range: $85,000 to $100,000 per year.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Manage complex employee relations cases, workplace investigations, corrective actions, and conflict resolution.
- Partner with department leaders on performance management, employee engagement, workforce planning, and organizational development.
- Provide HR policy guidance, compliance support, leadership coaching, and documentation best practices.
- Support HR initiatives related to retention, employee development, special projects, and continuous improvement.

- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive Human Resources experience, including significant employee relations experience.
- Experience supporting multiple departments or business units as an HR Business Partner.
- Strong knowledge of California employment law, HR compliance, and workplace investigation practices.
- Excellent conflict resolution, coaching, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining confidentiality.
- Ability to partner effectively with leaders at all levels in a professional, mission-driven environment.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience within higher education, nonprofit, or other mission-driven organizations is highly preferred.
- HR certification such as PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP is preferred.
- Experience supporting Title IX-related employee matters is a plus.
