Under the general supervision of the Administrative Officer, the Office Technician (TYPING) provides administrative support at the Inland Empire location. Plans, organizes, and directs all administrative and staff services activities including payroll, safety, training, employee/employer relations, service and supply, telephone and reception, vehicle fleet, files, and mail services. Working Conditions

This position is designated as office centered. Occasional travel to meetings and field sites may be required. Driver's License is required to drive State vehicles. The work involves prolonged periods of sitting or standing, daily use of a keyboard, mouse, computer, and phone.

This position is classified as “Hybrid” and is currently eligible for up to one day of telework per week, with a minimum of four days of in-office work.

Special Requirements

• The position(s) require(s) the ability to type at a minimum speed as designated on the Class Specifications (link available in the additional documentation section). You must obtain a valid typing certificate confirming your ability to meet the minimum typing speed, prior to being hired. Additional information regarding acceptable typing tests is available at the CalCareers.ca.gov website.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

Strong effective and professional communication skills. Ability to work effectively with others as part of a team. Ability to manage multiple tasks in a timely fashion. Experience with Microsoft Office, FI$Cal and Salesforce.

Eligibility Information

In order to be considered for the job vacancy you must satisfy one of the following requirements:

1. List Eligibility – Successfully complete the civil service exam for Office Technician (Typing). Please refer to the exam bulletin for the frequency of administration of this exam.
2. Transfer Eligibility – Must have current employment with the State of California in the same classification or in a classification that is comparable. If in a different classification, you must meet the minimum qualifications (see Minimum Qualifications section and associated links above).
3. Reinstatement Eligibility – Previously obtained permanent employment with the State of California in the same classification or in a classification that is comparable. If in a different classification, you must meet the minimum qualifications (see Minimum Qualifications section and associated links above.
4. Training & Development (T&D) Assignment – State employees in a permanent appointment, and no longer on probation, may be considered for a T&D assignment.
