Position Title: Payroll Specialist
Location: Newport Beach, CA (On-site)
Employment Type: Direct hire
Compensation : $70,000 - $77,000 / Annually
Work Schedule: M-F 9-5

Job Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist to join a corporate team environment. This role will be responsible for supporting end-to-end payroll operations, ensuring accurate and timely processing for a multi-state workforce. The ideal candidate brings strong technical payroll knowledge, a high level of discretion, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process biweekly payroll, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and applicable laws
- Maintain and update employee payroll records, including new hires, terminations, compensation changes, and deductions
- Calculate and process commissions, bonuses, and other variable compensation
- Ensure proper handling of payroll taxes, garnishments, benefits deductions, and direct deposits
- Reconcile payroll data and assist with general ledger and bank reconciliations
- Research and resolve payroll discrepancies, responding to employee and internal inquiries
- Support audits by preparing and providing payroll documentation as needed
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws
- Assist in improving payroll processes, systems, and reporting efficiencies
- Partner cross-functionally with Accounting and Human Resources to support overall business operations
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of payroll experience, including multi-state payroll processing
- Experience with payroll systems such as Paycom (preferred)
- Strong understanding of payroll laws and regulations (FLSA and multi-state compliance)
- Experience with benefits and leave administration is a plus
- CPP certification preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general office software
- High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to manage confidential information
- Ability to work effectively in a fully on-site, professional office environment
