Autism and Independence Support Specialist
Independence Specialist (Advanced Support & Crisis Intervention)
Private Pilot Phase | Home & Community-Based
The Vision
We are building a high-performance independence program for neurodivergent teens and young adults (ages 13–22). We are currently in a selective Private Pilot Phase, initially supporting a small circle of friends and family.
Our goal is to move the "classroom" into the real world—gyms, transit, and workplaces. We are seeking elite, grounded professionals who value relationship-building, sensory regulation, and the "Dignity of Risk" required for true real-world independence.
The Role: Beyond Caregiving
This is NOT a traditional caregiving or "babysitting" role. You are a Transition Architect. You will work 1-on-1 in high-stakes community and home environments, providing a safety net of expert care while aggressively pushing the boundaries of what our clients can achieve.
Because we operate in the community, you must be the "calm in the storm." We are specifically looking for specialists who have extensive experience with aggressive behaviors and high-intensity meltdowns, and who possess the tactical training to manage emergency situations with grace and clinical precision.
What You’ll Do
- 1:1 Independence Coaching: Support regulation, communication, and daily routines in home and community settings (errands, activities, appointments).
- High-Intensity Management: Maintain a calm, dignity-first presence during periods of high anxiety or sensory overload. You must be comfortable and trained to navigate aggressive behavior independently.
- Executive Scaffolding: Implement "External Brain" systems (tech tools, visual supports, and habit-stacking) to build the individual’s autonomy.
- Collaborative Strategy: Work as a trusted partner with families and the Founder to refine our curriculum during this pilot phase.
- Professional Judgment: Operate with total discretion and independent decision-making in unpredictable public environments.
Requirements
Who We’re Looking For (Required)
- Extensive Experience: Minimum 3+ years working with autistic teens or adults, specifically those with high-support needs regarding behavioral intensity.
- Crisis Certification: Current or recent certification in crisis intervention (e.g., CPI, QBS, Pro-ACT, or PCM). You must be "battle-tested" in de-escalation.
- Advanced Credentials: Preference for BCBAs, BCaBAs, or Senior RBTs. We also welcome experts in OT, SLP, or Special Education who have significant experience in crisis management and sensory regulation.
- Emotional Regulation: You must be exceptionally patient, reliable, and capable of maintaining professional boundaries while building deep, authentic relationships.
- Growth Mindset: We are hiring slowly and selectively. We want team members seeking a long-term career pathway into leadership, training, and profit-sharing.
Benefits
Compensation & Growth
- Top-Tier Pay: $35–$45/hr starting rate to reflect the high level of expertise required.
- Leadership Track: Opportunity to transition into Trainer or Program Manager positions as we scale from pilot to public.
- Future Incentives: Referral bonuses and future profit-share potential for committed founding team members.
Status: Part-Time with a clear trajectory toward Lead, Trainer, and Management roles.
