Full-Time Family Assistant - Near Carmel Valley, CA

A professional family near the Carmel Valley area is seeking a reliable, organized, and proactive Family Assistant to support the daily flow of the household and assist with light childcare responsibilities.

This is a long-term, live-out role ideal for someone who enjoys helping a busy home run smoothly and is comfortable balancing household support with occasional care for school-aged children. The position includes a combination of family assistance, home organization, cleaning, meal preparation, errands, and occasional sick-day childcare support.

The family is seeking someone dependable, calm, flexible, and able to work independently while maintaining a warm and professional presence in the home.

Schedule & Hours

Approximately 30 hours per week:

• Monday & Wednesday: 7:00 AM – 2:30 PM

• Tuesday, Thursday & Friday: 7:00 AM – 12:00 PM

(7:30 AM start time is also acceptable based on candidate preference.)

The family is open to a start date anytime after May 18, with preference to have the position filled before July 7.

Typical Daily Responsibilities

Morning Family Support

• Assist with morning routines for the children

• Prepare breakfast and pack lunches/school bags

• Walk children a few blocks to school or drive to camp when needed

Household Assistance

• Daily kitchen reset, dishes, garbage removal, and general tidying

• Organize packages, break down boxes, and maintain orderly common areas

• Laundry, folding, hanging clothes, and bedding care

• Wipe counters and maintain clean household surfaces

• Run robot vacuum and assist with floor upkeep

• Bring garbage and recycling bins to the street

• Retrieve mail and assist with unpacking/packing for trips

Meal Preparation

• Prepare simple family dinners

• Assist with children’s lunches and light meal prep throughout the week

Deep Cleaning Tasks

• Bathrooms and kitchen deep cleaning

• Washing bedding and linens

• Ironing clothes

• Periodic cleaning of windows, baseboards, refrigerators, and spot-cleaning walls/doors

Occasional Errands

• Grocery shopping

• Shipping and returns

• Vehicle gas/service runs

• Miscellaneous household errands as needed

Childcare Support

• Some days may involve caring for a child home sick from school

• Comfortable supervising children and taking them to a nearby park if needed

Requirements

• Prior experience as a Family Assistant, Housekeeper, Mother’s Helper, or similar household support role preferred

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

• Comfortable balancing household responsibilities with occasional childcare support

• Reliable, punctual, and self-directed

• Able to work efficiently and independently

• Strong communication skills and dependable follow-through

• Comfortable preparing simple meals and handling household organization

• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred

Compensation & Benefits

• Approximate compensation: $40/hour

• Approximately 30 hours/week

• One paid vacation/sick/personal day earned monthly

  • Unused days may roll over

  • Additional unpaid days off are easily accommodated with notice

• Five paid holidays annually:

  • July 4
