We provide shelter, case management, and access to essential resources through strong community partnerships. Position Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and mission-driven Development & Communications Manager to lead our fundraising, marketing, and public relations efforts. This individual will play a vital role in donor engagement, grant writing, event planning, and brand storytelling. The ideal candidate is a compelling communicator, strategic thinker, and strong project manager who thrives in a collaborative, community-focused nonprofit environment.

Compensation & Benefits

• Hourly Rate: $28.85 - $31.25/hour (equivalent to $60,000 - $65,000 annually), depending on experience
• Medical Stipend: Available to 40-hour candidates only
• 403(b) Retirement Plan: Participation available
• Work Schedule: Flexible, 40 hours per week (overtime eligible per California labor laws)

Key Responsibilities

Fund Development

• Research, write, and manage grant proposals and reports for foundations, corporations, and government entities
• Support the Executive Director in donor cultivation and stewardship
• Maintain and manage donor database (e.g., Salsa Engage or similar CRM); track contributions and communications
• Assist in planning and executing annual fundraising campaigns and events, including the annual golf tournament
• Identify and secure new funding opportunities, including sponsorships and corporate partnerships

Communications & Marketing

• Lead branding, marketing, and public relations strategies to increase visibility and engagement
• Manage social media platforms, e-newsletters, and website updates
• Develop and produce marketing materials such as brochures, press releases, impact reports, and video content
• Enhance storytelling initiatives that highlight client successes and organizational impact

Community Engagement

• Represent Family Promise at community events, meetings, and speaking engagements
• Build and sustain relationships with media, community partners, and stakeholders
• Support volunteer engagement and outreach initiatives

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Nonprofit Management, Public Relations, or a related field
• 3-5 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, marketing, or communications
• Proven success in grant writing and donor relations
• Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency with digital tools such as Canva, Mailchimp, and social media platforms
• Experience with website content management and donor databases
• Highly organized and capable of managing multiple priorities and deadlines

• Experience in a small nonprofit environment
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus
