Job Level:

The level of this position will be determined based on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. We are open to considering candidates of varying experience levels, from early-career to experienced.

Role:

Northwood is looking for a test engineer who can own the design and development of the test processes for our advanced gateways. This role is vital to calibration, screening and verification of our electronics hardware before it is deployed in the field. Important systems covered in this role include power supply, timing, analog circuits, digital circuits, RF, FPGA, and SOC electronics. The ideal candidate in this role has a strong combination of hardware and software proficiencies that allow them to flow across multiple engineering disciplines. This is a critical role at Northwood that creates and communicates actionable insights into hardware performance that can be feedback into the design cycle. While the main ownership of this role will be creating testing infrastructure, knowledge of the hardware being tested and understanding of our antenna systems as a whole will be essential.

Responsibilities:

• Work with responsible engineers to create hardware test specifications and plans.

• Design, create, and operationalize custom test setups and test beds for hardware.

• Work closely with relevant design and manufacturing engineers to provide feedback and drive design or manufacturing improvements.

• Ensure that failures are understood and communicated. Assist Responsible Engineer in investigating hardware failures and performing root cause analysis.Develop solutions to mitigate or remove causes of failure.

• Create hardware test plans and timelines, manage testing milestones, conduct reviews ensure that test systems are meeting requirements and properly scoped.

• Own development of test setups from initial prototypes to scaled designs that can meet production rate.

• Write software/test scripts in Python or similar to communicate and interact with test equipment and hardware.

• System design of test setup, including component selection, fabrication, and integration.

• Automate delivery of test data to logging/documentation interface performance improvements

• Conduct stress testing and life testing to see where the hardware breaks

Basic Qualifications :

• Experience with electronics test engineering or hardware development and design.

Preferred Qualifications :

• Programming experience in Python, C++, or MATLAB.

• Experience with debugging electronics hardware.

• Experience with CAD programs and board design programs.

• Familiarity with electrical test equipment.

• Experience developing test plans and reports.

Compensation & Benefits:

Compensation is determined by role, level, location. and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, and technical capabilities.
