Account Receivable (A/R) Specialist

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Account Receivable (A/R) Specialist for an opportunity in Camarillo, CA.

The A/R Specialist will support the Accounting Department by managing past due accounts, applying payments, resolving account discrepancies, and helping improve overall receivables performance.

Key Responsibilities

- Review open accounts, past due invoices, and delinquent balances to support timely collections and reduce overall receivables.
- Make professional outbound collection calls, send customer correspondence, and maintain positive customer relationships.
- Apply cash, checks, ACH, wire payments, and intercompany receivables accurately in the ERP system.
- Research and resolve deductions, disputes, discrepancies, cash application issues, and account reconciliation concerns.
- Manage and review customer tax certificates, upload documentation into Avalara, and support quarterly customer campaigns.
- Identify root causes of account delinquency and communicate process improvement opportunities to management.

Compensation and Benefits

- Pay rate: $26 to $29 per hour, depending on experience.
- Location: Camarillo, CA.
- Schedule: Start time can be between 7:30 AM and 8:30 AM.
- Employment type: Temp-to-hire.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Review past due accounts and support collections activity to improve receivables performance.
- Apply customer payments, including cash, checks, ACH, wires, and intercompany transactions.
- Resolve deductions, disputes, discrepancies, and cash application issues.
- Support customer tax certificate management and Avalara documentation processes.

- Minimum of 5 years of related accounts receivable, collections, or cash application experience required.
- Strong customer service experience required, including professional communication with internal and external customers.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint.
- Proficient with Adobe Acrobat.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, accuracy, and follow-through.
- Ability to speak and write clearly, listen effectively, and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to use discretion, independent judgment, and professionalism when handling customer accounts.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and new projects.

Preferred Qualifications

- Associate degree in Accounting preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is a plus.
- Experience using ERP systems for cash application and accounts receivable processing.
- Experience with Avalara or customer tax certificate management is helpful.
