Accounts Payable Clerk
**Position Summary:**
Under the direction of the Accounting Manager and Supervisor, the Accounts Payable Clerk is responsible for processing payments, verifying invoices, and controlling expenses. This role involves close collaboration with accounting management to safeguard company assets by adhering to internal controls and ensuring accuracy in all financial transactions.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Reconcile processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances.
- Charge expenses to appropriate accounts and cost centers by analyzing invoices and expense reports.
- Reconcile vendor statements and ensure transactions are accurate.
- Collaborate with Purchasing to ensure all Purchase Orders are properly posted and payments are made promptly.
- Pay vendors by scheduling, preparing checks, and resolving discrepancies related to purchase orders, invoices, or payments.
- Verify vendor accounts through monthly statement reconciliation.
- Maintain organized and accurate historical accounting records.
- Keep all information confidential, maintaining the integrity of Stronghold Engineering, Inc.
- Assist with special projects and other accounting functions as needed.
- Prepare accounts payable checks and process check requests per company policies.
- Contribute to a professional, respectful, and communicative workplace environment.
- Prepare reports and correspondence as requested by management.
**Qualifications:**
- Associates degree or equivalent, or 2-3 years of related experience.
- Previous construction accounting experience preferred.
- Knowledge of releases, liens, etc., is a plus.
- Familiarity with Spectrum accounting software is beneficial.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Excellent computer skills, with proficiency in MS Office.
**Working Conditions:**
- Office environment with no exposure to weather conditions.
**Physical Demands:**
- Frequently sit, use hands, reach, talk, and hear.
- Regularly stand and walk.
- Ability to lift/move up to 25 pounds as needed.
