About the role

As a Backend Developer , you will be responsible for the core server-side logic, APIs, and data processing that power our AI-driven applications. Your expertise in Python, API design, and the Google Cloud Platform will be essential in building robust, scalable, and high-performance applications that power our AI transformation initiatives. Along the way, you will get to:

• Back-End Development:  Design, build, and maintain server-side logic, data models, and high-performance APIs using Python libraries like FastAPI. You will be responsible for the core business logic and data processing that powers our applications. 
• Cloud Application Development:  Leverage Google Cloud Platform developer tools and services to deploy, manage, and scale backend systems. This includes working with services for authentication, data storage (Firestore, BigQuery, Cloud Storage), and serverless functions. 
• AI/ML Development:  Build the backend infrastructure for LLM-powered applications, including developing APIs for prompt engineering and implementing agentic AI design patterns. 
• Database Management:  Design and manage database schemas, ensure data integrity, and optimize database performance for our applications on platforms like Firestore and BigQuery. 
• Collaboration:  Work closely with front-end developers, product designers, data scientists, and other engineers to translate business requirements into technical solutions and deliver high-quality products. 
• Maintenance & Optimization:  Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing backend services to ensure they are performant, secure, and reliable. Focus on optimizing application performance, scalability, and security.

What we’re looking for

• Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience as a backend developer with a proven track record of delivering large-scale, complex, API-driven applications.
• Technical Skills:
  • Back End: Expert-level Python with extensive experience in asynchronous programming. Proven ability to build and deploy high-performance, data-validated APIs using FastAPI & Pydantic.
  • Google Cloud Platform (GCP): Hands-on experience with Vertex AI (Gemini), Firestore, BigQuery, and Cloud Storage.
  • AI/ML Development: Experience building the backend services for applications with Large Language Models (LLMs). Familiarity with agent-based systems (Google ADK, A2A SDK) is a major plus.
  • Docker & Microservices: Proficiency in containerizing applications and extensive experience working in a microservices architecture.
  • Software Engineering Fundamentals: Strong skills in API design, testing (pytest, unittest), and CI/CD practices.
• Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving technical challenges in a distributed environment.
• Communication: Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts and collaborate effectively within an agile team environment.
