Residential Construction Estimator
Summary
Our client is one of the most reputable residential custom home developer in San Diego County. They handle projects up and down the coast, ranging from Oceanside to Coronado. They are in immediate need of a skilled Estimator (Preconstruction) to join their team. As an Estimator, you will be responsible for providing accurate and timely cost estimates for custom residential construction projects. They are looking for a candidate with a strong background in construction estimating, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to evaluate project requirements and specifications effectively.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Review project plans, specifications, and drawings to understand project scope and requirements.
- Quantify materials, labor, and other resources needed for construction projects based on project plans and specifications.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates, including material take-offs, labor costs, subcontractor bids, and overhead expenses.
- Analyze project requirements and constraints to identify potential cost-saving opportunities and value engineering solutions.
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to gather necessary information for accurate estimates.
- Evaluate supplier and subcontractor bids, negotiate pricing, and establish relationships to ensure competitive pricing and quality.
- Update and maintain cost databases, pricing catalogs, and historical data to support accurate estimating processes.
- Prepare and present cost estimates to clients, providing explanations and justifications for proposed costs as needed.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
- Proven experience as an Estimator in the construction industry, preferably in residential construction.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and cost estimating techniques.
- Proficiency in estimating software and MS Office Suite.
- Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail with the ability to accurately quantify and assess project costs.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
