Position Title: Dispensary Retail Manager

Classification: Exempt

Position Status: Regular, Full Time

THE POSITION:

The Retail Manager oversees the daily operation of the dispensary, handling the needs of all customers and developing a professional team that is passionate about cannabis. The incumbent manages dispensary staff to ensure the facilities record-keeping and compliance with Tribal regulations are strictly adhered to. Priorities include the implementation of dispensary policies, oversight, management of quality inventory and the hiring, development and supervision of dispensary staff.

The incumbent is responsible for overseeing marketing, promotions and the maintenance of reports as they pertain to the daily operations and financials of the dispensary.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure the dispensary is in compliance with security, inventory, and Tribal regulations.
  • Manage and inspire internal staff to deliver the highest level of customer service.
  • Ensure the safety and satisfaction of every customer and employee.
  • Responsible for providing a high level of education and development for staff pertaining to cannabis strains, edibles, concentrates and consumption mechanisms.
  • Create budgets and forecast sales based on principles of retail business and experience.
  • Set sales, service, and profit goals and lead staff to exceed them.
  • Work closely with partners and suppliers to procure an adequate supply of quality products.
  • Fulfill staffing needs and coordinate scheduling.
  • Communicate with and coach staff on a regular basis to ensure the dispensary's excellence in service and labor practices within the community.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents relating to dispensary performance, general business periodicals, professional journals, safety, security and technical procedures, and Tribal regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Develop operations plans and implement and manage dispensary policies and procedures.
  • Document financial, inventory and customer trends; maintain sales and purchasing reports.
  • Manage and maintain dispensary sales and inventory management software.
  • Understanding of applicable federal, Tribal laws and regulations as they pertain to the industry, personnel law, safety regulations, Tribal codes, organizational rules, regulations, directives and standard operating procedures.
  • Assure the business remains compliant with all legal or company regulations for working in the industry.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: AA degree in business or related experience preferred.

Experience: Five (5) years of experience in a retail management environment required. Previous experience with cannabis retail preferred.

Licensing and Other Qualifications: Must attain required Tribal Cannabis license, once hired. Must be eighteen (18) years of age. Possess a valid California Driver's License.

  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to interpret and apply laws, rules, and regulations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee:

  • Must be able to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel for an extended period of time.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds with assistance.
  • The noise level is usually moderate.

  • Ability to work in varying and sometimes adverse weather conditions when the business requires such as performing retail operations outside via curbside service, removing trash or other outdoor tasks.
