Headrig Sawyer Operator (Lumber / Sawmill)
We're seeking a detail-oriented and safety-conscious Headrig Sawyer Operator to join our sawmill team. You’ll operate the primary headrig saw to transform logs into cants or boards, maintain equipment, coordinate flow, and ensure high-quality output.
Key Responsibilities
Operate the headrig saw to slice logs into predetermined dimensions.
Load logs onto the carriage and manage the log turner and conveyor systems.
Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshooting to reduce downtime.
Perform quality control checks on lumber and make necessary adjustments to saw settings.
Collaborate with fellow production staff to manage log flow and meet daily targets.
Uphold safety protocols, maintain a clean workspace, and comply with regulations.
Minimum Qualifications
Proven experience in sawmill operations—especially operating headrig saws or similar machinery.
Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to maintain and adjust heavy equipment.
Keen attention to detail with a commitment to quality and safety.
Preferred
Familiarity with optimizer systems or other advanced sawing tech.
Experience communicating with related sawmill roles (e.g., debarker, gang, or resaw operators)
Capability to perform minor saw adjustments or blade changes.
