Finance Clerk

Role Overview We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to support premium billing operations for group, individual health insurance, and ancillary accounts. In this role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the financial accuracy and efficiency of our healthcare billing processes. You will handle a variety of responsibilities, including invoice preparation, cash application, account reconciliation, and customer support for billing inquiries. The ideal candidate will have a foundation in healthcare finance or billing, a knack for problem-solving, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment while maintaining strict confidentiality and quality standards. Key Responsibilities Billing & Invoicing: Prepare and distribute accurate invoices, monitor outstanding balances, and resolve billing discrepancies in a timely manner. Payment Processing: Apply cash payments from various sources (EFT, credit card, lockbox, live checks, and phone payments) and prepare bank deposits. Account Reconciliation: Reconcile premium billing accounts within the billing system, ensuring all data is accurate and up to date. Reporting & Auditing: Validate and review delinquent premium reports, non-payment reports, and broker commission reports. Assist with billing quality assurance and internal audits. Customer & Partner Support: Respond promptly to billing inquiries from Member Services and external customers. Process payment-related requests, educate payers on billing timelines and payment options, and provide payment histories or billing documentation as needed. Administrative Operations: Update billing documentation, monitor workbaskets and queues, and collaborate effectively with internal partners to resolve customer issues. Required Qualifications Education: High School diploma or equivalent education/experience. Experience: 1+ years of recent, relevant experience in finance, billing, accounting, health plan, or healthcare operations. Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook). Familiarity with database management and data accuracy verification techniques. Industry Knowledge: Solid understanding of medical plan premium billing, invoicing, payment posting, and account reconciliation. Knowledge of health insurance concepts related to enrollment, premium billing, and broker commissions.
