THIS IS A NEW PROMOTIONAL ASSEMBLEDEXAMINATION. The eligible list resulting from thisexamination will cancel any existing list and may last approximately one yearbut can be extended. Qualified applicants must be current countyemployees and have completed the equivalent of six months of continuous servicefollowing a regular appointment in the Alameda County classified service byDecember 11 2025. A regular appointment does not includeprovisional TAP (Temporary Assignment Pool) or STEP-UP appointments.

DESCRIPTION
Alameda County Social Services Agency is currentlyrecruiting to fill two (2) Division Director SSA vacancies in Oakland and Hayward. These vacancies are in the department of Children & Family Services and Workforce & Benefits Administration; however the eligible list resulting from the recruitment may be used to fill future Division Director vacancies within SSA. The Position
Division Director SSA plans evaluates and directs theoperations and staff in one or more Divisions/offices in a department withinthe Social Services Agency. The Division Director SSA develos andestablishes overall divisional policies; sets goals and objectives consistentwith the overall goals of the Agency. Division Director SSA also has theadditional responsibility for participating in the meet and confer process withlabor organizations. Ideal Candidate
The Ideal Candidate will have a leadership style that ispositive progressive and responsive. The Candidate will be politicallyastute possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and be ableto represent the Social Services Agency before boards commissions andcommunity groups relating to human and social services programs.
In addition the Ideal Candidate will possess but not limited to the followingcritical attributes:
- Demonstrated ability to lead direct and manage multi-levels of staff; to generate staff commitment and adherence to program administrative policies and procedural changes.
- Exceptional administrative and organizational skills to direct Division staff in the formulation and implementation of policies and procedures required to meet legal requirements county policies goals and the delivery of required services.
- Exceptional experience providing direction and guidance to Division staff regarding the investigation and resolution of Human Resources Labor and client relations related issues.
- Demonstrated experience andability to identifyand analyze complex problems design solutions and formulate appropriate action plans proactively and collaboratively.
- Strong collaboration skills to develop and maintain partnerships with human and social services organizations community groups and organizations to gain their assistance and support in achieving the Agencys mission to promote the economic and social well-being of individuals families and communities.
- Demonstrated experience in directing monitoring and coordinating division operation processes including participation in the budget process planning for funding sources estimating staffing requirements and recommending major building alterations and remodeling requirements.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Either I
Experience:
The equivalent of six years full-time supervisory experience which included atleast two years of second-line supervisory experience in a social serviceeconomic benefits or employment services class in the Social Services Agency.(A bachelors degree may be substituted for the equivalent of two years offirst-line supervisory experience.)
Or II
Experience:
The equivalent of six years full-time increasingly responsible managerial oradministrative experience which involved supervision of a major staff supportfunction or program division at the level of Administrative Services Officer oran equivalent or higher-level administrative class. (A bachelors degree may besubstituted for the equivalent of two years of the required supervisoryexperience.)

EXAMINATION COMPONENTS
THE EXAMINATION WILL CONSIST OF THE FOLLOWINGSTEPS:
1. A review of the applicants application toverify possession of minimum requirements. Those candidates who possess theminimum requirements for the class will move on to the next step in theexamination process.
2. An oral interview which will be weighted as100% of the candidates final examination score. The oral interview may containsituational exercises.
Candidates must attain a qualifying rating on eachportion of this recruitment.
