Bookkeeper (Part-Time to Full-Time)

Location: Torrance, CA 90503
Employment Type: Contract with potential for permanent hire
Compensation: $32.00 - $38.00 per hour D.O.E.
Schedule: Initially Part-Time (Monday–Wednesday), transitioning to Full-Time (Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–6:00 P), 100% Onsite

Position Overview

A growing environmental engineering services company is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Bookkeeper to support daily accounting and financial operations. This role will begin on a part-time basis and gradually transition into a full-time schedule based on business needs and performance. The ideal candidate will possess strong bookkeeping experience, hands-on QuickBooks expertise, and knowledge of certified payroll.

Key Responsibilities

Bookkeeping & Accounting

• Maintain accurate financial records and general ledger transactions using QuickBooks.
• Record daily financial activity, including deposits, expenses, journal entries, and account adjustments.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities.
• Generate and maintain financial reports, including Profit & Loss Statements and Balance Sheets.
• Ensure all financial records are accurate, organized, and audit ready.

Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable

• Process vendor invoices and ensure timely and accurate payments.
• Manage customer invoicing and apply incoming payments.
• Monitor outstanding receivables and follow up on past-due accounts.
• Research and resolve billing discrepancies and vendor inquiries.

Account Reconciliation

• Reconcile bank accounts, checks, credit card statements, and general ledger accounts.
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies promptly.
• Maintain accurate cash flow and account balances.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of bookkeeping and accounting experience.
• Experience with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and account reconciliations.
• Experience reconciling bank accounts, checks, and credit card statements.
• Knowledge of payroll processing and payroll reporting.
• Experience with prevailing wage and certified payroll administration preferred.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial recordkeeping.
• Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and accuracy.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information.
• Reliable transportation and exceptional punctuality are required.
• Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.
