This position oversees the Employment Services program throughout Ventura County, which provides employment opportunities in the community. In addition, this position will lead efforts in development and growth of the program, provide supervision and training to employment services staff, and ensure individualized

Supervision Exercised: Ventura County Individual Employment Services Coordinators, Employment Specialists, Job Coaches

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Oversees all Individual Employment Services throughout Ventura County
  • Develops individual supported employment opportunities in the community by following up with potential employers/business contacts
  • Responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of services designed to meet the needs of individuals being served in the Employment Services programs
  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring and evaluation of all program staff
  • Create and implement strategies for short- and long-term program growth
  • In conjunction with the Executive Director, oversees marketing of program offerings to the community
  • Helps organize and assist in marketing efforts and special events when applicable
  • Responsible for assisting in the recruitment, selection, and training of program staff
  • Ensure staff evaluation and review in accordance with Agency policies/procedures
  • Responsible for program billing and financials
  • Responsible for providing skills or developmental training in areas of specific activities as designated
  • Ensures completion of requirements for program participant payroll
  • Ensures completion of staff payroll
  • Monitors proper implementation and documentation of the Individual Service Plans (ISP) for each program participant
  • Coordinates the overall implementation of the program for each program participant based on his/her/their ISP in conjunction with the Case Management
  • Ensures that program components meet the assessed needs of the program participants in his/her/their ISP in conjunction with Employment Services Team
  • Attends (or designates staff person) all participants’ annual ISP meetings
  • Attends and participates in in-service training, staff meetings and other activities to facilitate professional development
  • Assists Director of Employment Services and Case Management Team with CARF accreditation process.
  • During absence, ensure that all responsibilities are delegated accordingly
  • Ensures compliance with Agency policies/procedures, OSHA, DOR, TCRC and CARF standards
  • Determines the types and amounts/supports necessary and develop plans to provide these supports with the goal of maintaining each individual gainfully employed
  • Monitors employer expectations of integration into the work setting and identify potential obstacles to work setting off - setting gainful employment
  • Oversees staff in training program participants to access public transportation and assist them in accessing benefits such as Social Security and SSDI and other generic resources
  • Responsible for providing skill and/or training as designated
  • Participates in meetings, in service trainings, etc. as needed
  • Will need to be available during any disasters
  • Other related duties, responsibilities, and special projects on an as needed basis

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to stand, sit for long periods of time
  • Ability to go up and down stairs
  • Ability to speak, read, hear, and understand technical written material
  • The employee is frequently required to climb, stoop, twist, or bend and lift up to fifty (50) pounds, using proper body mechanics to minimize injuries to self and people served
  • Full awareness of environmental stimuli
  • Ability to implement Crisis Management, Safety & ProAct techniques (training included)

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent with an emphasis in the areas of education, psychology, social services, or related field (work experience may be substituted for education)
  • Four (4) years’ experience working directly with developmental and/or other disabilities in individual and/or group settings preferred; two (2) year of which must be increasingly responsible for administrative and/or supervisory experience
  • Proven ability to work with and motivate staff
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain the highest standards of confidentiality regarding persons served and other related information
  • Proven understanding of technology to support the program
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff within the organization
  • Ability to understand technical written materials
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to complete tasks with numerous interruptions
  • Ability to work with minimal direct supervision
  • Ability to read financial statements and understand basic accounting
  • Excellent computer proficiency (esp. Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Teams etc.)
  • Compassion and respect for persons with disabilities
  • Ability to demonstrate patience and understanding because people served may have intellectual, emotional, or behavioral challenges, in addition to physical limitations
  • Will need to be available during any disasters, per disaster plan
  • Valid CA Driver’s License: must have an acceptable driving record as determined by criteria established by the Agency’s insurance carrier and by Agency policy
  • Valid certification in CPR/First Aid (Training included)
