Job Title: Dental Hygienist

Duration: 1 year with the possibility of a 4 year extension

Shift Schedule: 7:30 AM 4:00 PM or 8:00 AM 4:30 PM, M-F

License / Certifications Required:

• Current unrestricted dental hygiene license from any U.S. state
• Proof of radiologic procedure education (via program curriculum or certificate)
• Current BLS and/or CPR certification

Education: Associate Degree or higher from a dental hygiene program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (COD) of the American Dental Association

Minimum Qualification / Experience:

• At least 1 year of experience as a Dental Hygienist

Responsibilities

Clinical Duties:

• Perform preliminary dental exams; review medical and dental histories
• Examine teeth and surrounding tissues for plaque, calculus, cavities, and oral cancer
• Conduct full periodontal assessments and provide treatment recommendations
• Deliver prophylactic treatments including scaling, root planing, curettage, and fluoride application
• Assist in periodontal surgeries and provide pre/post-operative care
• Take and interpret radiographs (bitewing, periapical, panoramic)
• Manage patient recall and follow-up

Patient Education & Preventive Care:

• Educate patients on oral hygiene, disease prevention, tobacco cessation, and diet
• Develop individualized home care plans
• Counsel medically compromised patients (e.g., diabetic, stroke, cancer, renal dialysis, psychiatric)

Administrative and Technical Tasks:

• Use VistA, CPRS, and DRM+ systems for patient data entry and documentation
• Maintain and clean equipment and instruments per Infection Control, OSHA, and RME protocols
• Prepare special trays and mouthguards; remove sutures and dressings; take impressions
