With Sales demands up for oil and juice, were on our way towards building the next iteration of transformational growth.

We are currently looking for a Associate HR Manager for our Tipton Facility.

Compensation: $90,000 - $100,000 annually with bonus potential.

Job Summary

This position is responsible for leading and coordinating the human resources management activities for the company in order to maximize the strategic use of human resources and maintain functions such as recruitment, personnel policies, employee compensation, government compliance, and employee relations. Conducts compensation and benefits surveys within labor market. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. This position is based at the Tipton plant. Maintaining a positive, working relationship with Teamsters Local 517 is a major focus of this position.

What you will do in this Role

  • Food Safety is the responsibility of all Ventura Coastal manufacturing employees. All Ventura Coastal manufacturing employees must be aware of CCPs in their area and how to document them appropriately. All staff must report food safety and quality problems to their immediate supervisor in charge during their shift.

  • Recruitment - Identify vacancies, interview and recruit the best talent possible to fill vacancies. Use of both internal and external selection processes. Represent Ventura Coastal at Tulare/Kings/Kern county career fairs. Represent Ventura Coastal at college career fairs.
  • Administer the Collective Bargaining Agreement with Teamsters Local 517. Resolve grievances in accordance with the CBA. Chair quarterly Joint Labor Relations Committee (JLRC) meetings. Prepare for and actively participate in contract negotiations with Local 517.
  • Maximize labor both temporary and direct hire staff to support the seasonal labor fluctuations.
  • Support the Ventura Coastal Employee Relations Philosophy in the areas of Employee Safety and Health, Employee Treatment; Communications; and Compensation and Benefits.
  • Train salaried staff to coach employees to help facilitate issue resolution.
  • Policy and Benefit Administration including recommendations for new policy
  • Assist management and employees in resolving conflicts, work related questions or issues in an effort to maintain positive employee relations and a union-free environment.
  • Lead and Implement various employee engagement activities
  • Represent Ventura Coastal at the Tulare County Workforce Leadership Investment Board.
  • Represent Ventura Coastal LLC to state and federal agencies such as EDD, CAL-OSHA, DFEH or the EEOC.
  • Process timekeeping, time off, and enter employee's data into HRIS platform when needed.
  • Assist employees with leaves of absence information
  • Supervise and provide performance feedback to direct report (s).
  • Promote safety in the department and ensure that all personnel adhere to all safety regulations including the wearing of all essential personal protective equipment. Serve as a member of the Safety Leadership team.
  • Ensure that all personnel are following all food safety and personal hygiene practices.
  • Demonstrate reliable attendance, consistent punctuality and a conscientious attitude at all times.
  • Act professionally towards customers, vendors and visitors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and required.

What you will bring to this Role

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business Administration or closely related field.
  • At least five (5) years experience in Human Resources Administration in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Products: Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and large scale ERP applications is a must.
  • Knowledge of Federal/State employment and safety laws
  • Must also possess human relations and conflict resolution skills and must be an excellent communicator at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong work ethic, enthusiasm, self-starter capabilities with excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Conversational Spanish skills are desirable.
  • Knowledge of State of California and Federal laws pertaining to employment, wage and hour, discrimination and , harassment prevention

The Physical Requirements of the Role

The ability to meet flexible and changing priorities and the ability to work under pressure is a must. Ability to travel between Visalia and Ventura on a regular basis. Will be in an office environment and traveling environment requiring the ability to sit, stand, walk, talk and listen for extended periods of time. Minimal climbing, lifting and bending.
