Mandarin Pastor

Laguna Chinese Baptist Church of Elk Grove, California seeks a gospel-preaching and Scripture driven pastor to shepherd and oversee a growing Mandarin congregation. Applicant must be elder- qualified, gifted in teaching and preaching, and have a clear calling to ministry. Qualified candidate will demonstrate completion of a Master of Divinity, or equivalent, from an evangelical seminary.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Spiritual:
• Must have a healthy and growing personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.
• Must be a biblically guided and Spirit‐filled Christian according to 1 Timothy 3:1‐
7 and Titus 1:6‐9.
• Affirms the Southern Baptist Faith and Message (2000) and our church doctrinal statement.
• Gifted in preaching and teaching the word of God.
• Must have a shepherd’s heart and possess a special concern for Mandarin speakers
and their spiritual lives.
Professional:
• Must have a Master of Divinity (or equivalent) from an evangelical seminary.
• Possesses strong servant-leadership that is relational.
• Must have teaching and discipleship skills, especially in training, communicating and

developing leaders.
• Able to implement a systematic teaching approach for all Mandarin ministries.
• At least 3 years of ministry leadership experience or equivalent.
• Competent in administration, organization, and planning.
• Good personal discipline with an ability to delegate.
• Willing to serve at a minimum 5 years.
• Committed to work in a team environment with fellow pastors and church leaders.
Personal:
• Teachable and humble
• Able to communicate well in English and Mandarin.
• Must be sensitive to North America Chinese church culture.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Oversee and lead the weekly worship service.
2. Preach regularly in the Mandarin worship service.
3. Oversee teaching in the Mandarin Sunday school classes.
4. Counsel individuals / families with the word of God.
5. Train disciples and develop future leaders for Mandarin Congregation.
6. Develop and implement ministries that engage Mandarin speaking people for Christ and
promote spiritual growth.
7. Lead regular leadership meetings with the Mandarin leadership team.
8. Develop and administer outreach to the community.
9. Attend and participate in church wide ministries (member meetings, elder meetings, council
meetings, all-church outreach, mission’s conferences, etc.).
10. Attend and participate in weekly staff meetings and regular one-to-one meetings with the
Senior Pastor.
11. Assist the pastoral staff as needed with ministry responsibilities.
12. Directly supervise the daily duties of the Mandarin Ministry Coordinator.
