Adjunct Faculty, BSN Program – Nursing Instructor (Riverside Campus):
Stanbridge University is seeking dedicated Adjunct Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Faculty to educate and mentor the next generation of professional registered nurses. This opportunity supports ongoing and future instructional needs across multiple specialty areas within the BSN program at the Alhambra campus.
We are actively recruiting faculty with recent clinical experience in Medical-Surgical Nursing, Obstetrics (Maternal–Newborn), Pediatrics, Mental Health / Psychiatric Nursing, Community Health, and Nursing Leadership and Professional Practice. Teaching assignments are aligned with clinical expertise, program needs, and faculty availability.
Adjunct faculty play a vital role in advancing student success by delivering high-quality instruction in the classroom, skills laboratory, and clinical setting. Through theory, hands-on skills development, and supervised clinical practice, faculty prepare students for safe, competent, and compassionate professional nursing practice.
This role is ideal for clinicians who are passionate about teaching, mentoring, and shaping the future of nursing while maintaining flexibility in their schedules.
High-Need Instructional Areas:
- Medical-Surgical Nursing (including acute/critical care)
- Obstetrics (Maternal–Newborn Nursing)
- Pediatrics
- Mental Health / Psychiatric Nursing
- Community / Public Health Nursing
- Nursing Leadership, Professional Practice, or Capstone
- All specialty areas require a minimum of one (1) year of clinical nursing experience in the applicable content area within the past five (5) years
- Clinical experience must be documented and verifiable in accordance with institutional, regulatory, and accreditation standards
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Deliver clinical and/or theory instruction using approved course materials
- Develop instructional strategies that promote critical thinking and clinical judgment
- Evaluate student performance using nursing standards and program competencies
- Facilitate integration of theory into patient care practice
- Ensure patient safety and compliance with clinical site and university policies
- Lead pre- and post-clinical conferences to reinforce learning
- Engage students in reflective practice and clinical reasoning
- Foster a professional learning environment that promotes accountability, integrity, and collaboration
- Promote student success through active engagement and instructional flexibility
- Maintain accurate and timely records of grades, attendance, and student performance
- Maintain current knowledge of clinical practice and instructional content
- Participate in department meetings and shared governance activities as required
Qualifications:
Required:
- Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited institution
- Current, active, and unencumbered California Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Minimum of four (4) years of direct patient care experience as a Registered Nurse
- Minimum of one (1) year of acute care experience within the past five (5) years
- Recent direct patient care experience within the past five (5) years in the assigned specialty area (e.g., Med-Surg, OB, Pediatrics, Mental Health, Community Health)
- American Heart Association BLS (Basic Life Support) for Healthcare Providers certification
- Up-to-date immunization records
- Proficiency in educational technology and basic computer applications
Preferred:
- Prior teaching or clinical precepting experience
- Experience teaching didactic and/or clinical courses in a nursing program
- Familiarity with ATI and CourseKey
- Strong interpersonal skills and a student-centered teaching philosophy
Compensation:
- $50.00–$65.00 per hour
- Compensation is based on education, experience, specialty expertise, and internal equity considerations
Work Settings:
- Instruction may occur in classrooms, skills laboratories, acute care hospitals, community health settings, and other approved clinical sites
- Faculty who are comfortable teaching across classroom, skills laboratory, and clinical environments are strongly preferred
- Candidates with experience in at least two (2) instructional settings (theory, skills lab, or clinical) will be considered

- Physical ability to perform instructional and clinical supervision duties
- Proficient in using electronic keyboards and office equipment
- Effective verbal communication in person and by phone
- Ability to lift, carry, and/or move objects weighing 10–25 pounds
