Clinical Programmer II

Position Summary
The Clinical Programmer II at Recor Medical develops and maintains advanced programming solutions for clinical trial data management, analysis, and reporting. This role requires strong proficiency in R and/or SAS and understanding of clinical trial processes and operational metrics. Key responsibilities include performing complex data analysis, generating reports, and creating tools to support both clinical research and operational decision-making. The ideal candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor junior programmers, and contribute to process improvements. They will demonstrate technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively, while staying current with industry trends and maintaining high standards of quality and compliance.
Responsibilities and Duties
Design, develop, validate, and maintain complex programs to support clinical trial data management processes, including data integration, transformation, and analysis using R, SAS, or other relevant programming languages.
Perform advanced data analysis and generate complex reports, tables, listings, and figures to support clinical trial data review, statistical analysis, regulatory submissions, and operational decision-making.
Support clinical operational activities by developing and maintaining tools for tracking study progress, site performance, and other key operational metrics, including generating regular reports and dashboards to provide insights into clinical trial operations.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement statistical analysis plans and design programming solutions that address specific project requirements.
Troubleshoot complex data issues and propose solutions to ensure data integrity and quality throughout the clinical development process.
Conduct programming peer reviews, provide technical guidance, and mentor junior programmers to ensure code quality and adherence to standards.
Participate in version control using Git and maintain comprehensive documentation for scripts, packages, and applications.
Contribute to the development of study documentation, including programming specifications and data management plans.
Lead process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and quality in clinical programming activities.
Stay abreast of emerging trends, technologies, and industry standards (e.g., CDISC) in clinical programming and data management, implementing improvements as appropriate and assisting in preparing for regulatory audits and inspections.

Requirements
Master's degree in computer science, data science, statistics, life sciences, or related field with 1+ years of experience; or a Bachelor's degree in these fields with 2+ years of professional experience in Clinical Programming, data visualization, business intelligence, or analytics roles.
Strong proficiency in R and/or SAS, with experience in other relevant programming languages and tools (e.g., Python, SQL).
Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and optimize code for efficiency and scalability.
Experience in extracting, cleaning, transforming, and loading data from diverse sources, managing datasets, and ensuring data quality and integrity.
Understanding of clinical trial processes and data flow from study setup to database lock.
Working knowledge of clinical trial data standards (e.g., CDISC SDTM, ADaM) is strongly preferred.
Experience with or understanding of clinical trial operations and associated metrics is highly desirable.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex requirements into efficient programming solutions.
Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative development practices.
Familiarity with tools and techniques for visualizing operational data and creating interactive dashboards (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.
Ability to mentor junior team members, including conducting code reviews and providing technical guidance.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated with emerging trends in clinical programming and data analysis.
Preferred Skills
Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)
Proficiency in version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative development practices
Experience mentoring junior programmers and conducting code reviews
Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms and integration technologies
Experience with software validation per FDA guidelines
Knowledge of machine learning or advanced analytics techniques applicable to clinical data
Salary range: $122,857 - $132,796 (Annual Base Salary)
The successful candidate's starting base pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location and market conditions. The expected base pay range for this role may be modified based on market conditions.

Radiation Safety Requirement
Certain field-based roles at Recor Medical require work in environments where radiation sources (e.g., x-ray equipment) are in use. Employees in these roles will be issued a personal dosimetry badge to monitor occupational exposure and are required to wear it in accordance with company policy and applicable regulatory standards. This program is designed to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations and to maintain radiation exposure at levels that are As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA). Additional guidance and protective equipment, as necessary, will be provided as part of onboarding and ongoing safety training.
