We offer merchants an end-to-end payments solution that provides authorization and settlement capabilities, as well as instant access to funds and payouts. We also help merchants connect with their customers, process exchanges and returns, and manage risk. We enable consumers to engage in cross-border shopping and merchants to extend their global reach while reducing the complexity and friction involved in enabling cross-border trade.

PayPal, Inc. seeks Staff Software Engineer in San Jose, CA

Job Duties: Analyze product requirements to design, and develop robust, scalable software applications and features. Monitor and test newly implemented applications for reliability, security, and performance. Lead projects and mentor all levels of engineering staff, along with managing relationships with Product, Engineering Operations, and non-technical business and support teams. Apply experience with distributed services, backend systems, and building services on public cloud services such as AWS, GCP, or Azure to build, deploy, and manage compatible applications. Document findings and present to senior management with proposed solutions. Manage infrastructure as code using Terraform to define, automate, and manage the software technical infrastructure. Research, analyze, design, develop, and test the solutions that are appropriate for the business and technology strategies. Utilize experience working with fault-tolerant and scalable distributed services and systems to design and implement new Application Programming Interfaces (API) endpoints to support new software features for PayPal's distributed payments systems. Partial telecommuting permitted from within a commutable distance.

Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field plus five years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.

Special Skill Requirements:

1\. Experience in Java, Python, or similar programming languages (5 years).

2\. Experience in Databases, build object relational mapping, optimize database queries (SQL) and manage relational databases (5 years).

3\. Experience in Agile, fostering collaborative and iterative software development methodologies (5 years).

4\. Experience in Software design, create scalable and efficient architectures for complex systems (3 years).

5\. Experience in API development, design, develop, and maintain RESTful or gRPC or similar interfaces (2 years).

6\. Experience in User Interface development, build responsive and user-friendly interfaces (Web or Mobile) (2 years).

7\. Experience in Distributed computing architecture (2 years)

8\. Experience in Cloud platform, build solutions for cloud native and SaaS products (AWS or similar) (1 year).

The base pay for this role will depend on where you work and the relevant experience and expertise you bring. The expected range of pay for this role by location is:

Primary Location | Pay Range:

San Jose, California | Salary: $187,741-$270,500 per annum. 40 hours per week; M-F, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Additional compensation for this role may include an annual performance bonus, equity, or other incentive compensation, as applicable.
