The Library is recruiting for two (2) full-time positions, Librarian I and Librarian II, to serve in the Outreach Services division.
Candidates may be considered for one or both of the positions based on education, experience, and interests.

Outreach Services Librarian I will be responsible for :
- Work with the Outreach Services Supervisor to lead the day-to-day operations of the Division.
- Assist with developing partnerships with local schools, community groups, and partnerships to expand the reach of library programs and services.
- Develop and plan tours, outreach visits, Student Success Cards, large-scale library programs, special events, and reading programs such as 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten - both within the library and at offsite locations.
- Assist in managing the Outreach Services Division budget.
- Work collaboratively to develop and maintain division materials, resources, and materials collection.
- Supervise and evaluate the work performance of Outreach Services staff and volunteers.
- Act as a designated "person in charge" and ensure adherence to the Library's Code of Conduct and policies.
- Other professional and organizational duties as needed.
Outreach Services Supervisor Librarian II Will Be Responsible For:
- Working with the Library Services Manager to plan, organize, lead, and supervise the day-to-day operations of the division.
- Develop, recommend, and implement long-range goals, objectives and policies relevant to the division.
- Assist with strategic planning participating in the long-term planning and development of the division’s services.
- Monitor and evaluate trends in library services, technology, early learning, outreach services, and within the community.
- Set the tone for the team, providing inspiration and direction. Cultivating and fostering a positive, collaborative, creative and productive work environment.
- Hire, train, supervise, and manage reporting team and volunteers.
- Establish individual workplans, workflow, and establish priorities. Evaluate the work performance and quality of the team, staff, and volunteers.
- Oversee training, coaching, and professional development of staff and volunteers reporting to you.
- Assist with the management of the division’s budget, resources, and equipment orders. Ensure expenditures stay within allocations and that appropriate controls are in place, policies and procedures are adhered to.
- Assist with data collection, reports, and evaluations of programs and services as needed.
- Interact with patrons, provide customer service, reader’s advisory and reference services.
- Act as the designated “person in charge” and ensure the adherence to the Library’s Code of Conduct and policies.
- Serve as a liaison on behalf of your division at meetings, appearances, and events.
- Engage and build relationships with community organizations, schools, daycares, and local partners to promote library services, literacy initiatives, and develop a greater understanding of community need.
- Serve as a liaison on behalf of the library coordinating interactions and events with community agencies, local schools and community organizations, events, and tours.
- Develop, conduct, and supervise tours, educational outreach programs, and initiatives including Senate Bill SB 321 “Student Success Card initiative,” “1,000 Books Before Kindergarten,” and assist with large scale programs and special events.
- Work collaboratively to develop and maintain collection materials and resources.
- Other professional and organizational duties as needed.

Education And/or Experience
Librarian I
Graduation from an American Library Association accredited college with a Master's degree in Library Science or any combination of training and experience that provides the desired knowledge and abilities.
Examples Of Acceptable Substitutions
Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from an American Library Association accredited college with a Master's degree in Library Science.
Substitution: A total of five (5) years of librarian experience.
Librarian II
Graduation from an American Library Association accredited college with a Master's degree in Library Science and two years of professional library experience or any combination of training and experience that provides the desired knowledge and abilities.
Examples Of Acceptable Substitutions
Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from an American Library Association accredited college with a Master's degree in Library Science and two years of professional library experience.
Substitution: A total of seven (7) years of librarian experience.
Librarian I
Knowledge of the principles and practices of professional library work; basic reference methods; principles and techniques used in bibliographic research; current library technology. Ability to analyze community needs and recommend plans for modifying or extending library services; use a microcomputer to search for information and to tie into network sources from other library systems; locate information on and instruct patrons in the use of CD-ROMs; communicate effectively both orally and in writing with a wide variety of individuals to promote library programs and meet patron needs; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
Librarian II
Knowledge of the principles and practices of professional library work; advanced reference methods; techniques and procedures in cataloging, indexing, classifying and organizing library materials; principles and techniques used in bibliographic research. Ability to organize work and supervise the work of technical and office staff; communicate both orally and in writing with a wide variety of individuals to promote library programs and meet patron needs; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Librarian I
Frequent standing and sitting. Dexterity and coordination to handle files and single pieces of paper; occasional lifting of items weighing up to twenty-five pounds such as files, stacks of paper, reference books and boxes of book shipments and other materials. Moving from place to place within the office; some reaching for items above and below desk level. Strength, dexterity, coordination and vision to use keyboard and video display terminal frequently and for periods of one hour or more.
Librarian II
Frequent standing and sitting. WORKING CONDITIONS
