The Vice President of Transportation Construction is a pivotal leadership role responsible for driving strategic growth, operational excellence, and financial performance in the transportation infrastructure sector. This role requires extensive expertise in roadway, bridge, and transit construction, with deep knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and compliance, particularly in working with agencies such as Caltrans and transit authorities.

The VP will lead large-scale transportation projects, ensuring they meet regulatory, safety, and client expectations while maintaining efficiency and profitability. Additionally, this role is accountable for achieving company-wide sales goals in the transportation sector and developing key client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage the transportation division, overseeing major roadway, bridge, and transit projects.

Develop and implement strategic growth initiatives to strengthen market presence and secure high-profile infrastructure projects.

Oversee project execution, ensuring delivery within scope, budget, and timeline while maintaining high safety and quality standards.

Serve as a primary point of contact for regulatory agencies, municipalities, contractors, and clients to foster collaboration and successful project outcomes.

Represent the company in public forums, industry events, and media engagements to enhance visibility in the transportation construction sector.

Drive financial performance by implementing cost-control measures, optimizing resources, and ensuring strong project profitability.

Expand brand recognition, client management strategies, and business development initiatives.

Champion risk management practices, ensuring regulatory compliance and adherence to industry best practices.

Lead the adoption of innovative construction technologies and methodologies to enhance efficiency and project success.

Mentor and guide senior project managers, fostering leadership development and a high-performing team culture.

Address complex challenges in project execution, including technical, regulatory, and stakeholder-related issues.

Scope of Responsibility

Lead multiple teams of senior managers and directors overseeing diverse transportation projects.

Manage significant operational budgets, ensuring optimal allocation of resources.

Develop and implement both short- and long-term strategic initiatives aligned with corporate objectives.

Act as the primary representative for the business unit, collaborating with executive leadership and stakeholders to shape strategic direction.

Serve as a spokesperson for transportation-related initiatives, engaging with clients, public agencies, and industry professionals.

Oversee project delivery to ensure financial, quality, and safety targets are consistently met.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives by integrating best practices and innovative solutions into project execution.

Qualifications & Experience

Minimum of 15 years of experience in transportation construction, with at least 10 years in senior leadership roles overseeing major infrastructure projects.

Strong background in managing complex transportation initiatives, with knowledge of state and federal regulatory requirements.

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.

Professional engineering licensure in California (Civil/Structural) is strongly preferred.

Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage large-scale budgets effectively.

Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.

Strong organizational and project management skills, capable of handling multiple priorities simultaneously.

Demonstrated track record of successfully delivering transportation projects with a focus on safety, quality, and client satisfaction.

Willingness to travel to project sites, client meetings, and industry events as needed.
