Psychologist - Additional Position

Job Description and Duties

This vacancy is for current, State civil service employees looking for an additional position. This is a limited term/temporary appointment.

• Sexually Violent Predator Evaluator (7621)
• Sr. Psychologist, (Health Facility) (Spec) (9839)

The Psychologist will be directed by the Chief Psychologist and/or Senior Psychologist, Supervisor of the Psychology Department at the Department of State Hospitals – Atascadero (ASH). The incumbent will be responsible for the following duties but not limited to:

• Complete Admission Psychological Assessment (APA) for patients to further delineate and clarify psychiatric and psychological diagnoses.
• Conduct intellectual and cognitive assessments of all patients when clinically indicated.
• Conduct psychological assessments.
• Responsible for creating and monitoring behavioral interventions.
• Provide timely feedback to the patient, the results of psychological assessments and evaluations, and complete appropriate documentation of this interaction.

Working Conditions

• This position may require periodic work behind the Secured Treatment Area (STA).
• This position is limited term and will expire on 9/28/2026, but can be ended at any time.
  

Special Requirements

• The position(s) require(s) a Drug Screening be passed prior to being hired.
• The position(s) require(s) a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired.
• The position(s) require(s) Medical Clearance prior to being hired.
• The position(s) require(s) a(n) Licensed Psychologist: CA Board of Psychology License. You will be required to provide a copy of your license prior to being hired.

The Medical Staff of DSH-Atascadero requires Psychologist candidates meet the Medical Staff criteria for allied health professional privileging set forth in the facility bylaws. Candidates applying must submit the required documents listed under the Required Application Documents Section.
