Job Location: San Diego, CA

Overview:

Varada Consulting is seeking a highly organized and experienced Configuration Management (CM) Specialist to support Navy Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Intelligence (C4I) programs on a part-time basis. The specialist will provide configuration oversight, documentation, and technical support for a fleet readiness or acquisition program located in San Diego. This role will be embedded within a cross-functional engineering team and requires an individual who is detail-oriented, independent, and able to operate in a fast-paced DoD environment.

Responsibilities:

• Support the Configuration Management program for Navy C4I systems and platforms.

• Develop and maintain CM plans, procedures, baselines, and documentation.

• Review and process Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and Change Notices.

• Participate in and facilitate Configuration Control Boards (CCBs) and Technical Review Boards (TRBs).

• Coordinate with systems engineering and logistics teams to track, analyze, and document engineering changes.

• Ensure compliance with DoD CM standards, policies, and best practices.

• Maintain CM records in databases and repositories such as CMPro, JIRA, or Confluence.

• Support lifecycle sustainment efforts by maintaining traceability of changes across development and deployment phases.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field (or 4+ additional years of experience in lieu of a degree).

• 5 years of Configuration Management experience supporting defense or government programs.

• Experience with Pre-installation Test and Check-Out (PITCO) deployments to include As-Built documentation

• Hands-on experience with CM tools such as CMPro, JIRA, Confluence, and Git-based systems.

• Strong understanding of CM disciplines: Identification, Control, Audits, and Status Accounting.

• Experience supporting U.S. Navy or DoD platforms, particularly PEO C4I, NAVWAR, NIWC PAC, or C3F customers.

• Excellent organizational, communication, and documentation skills.

Desired:

• Configuration Management certification (CMPIC, CMII, or ECMA).

• Experience with ISR or sensor-based Navy platforms.

• Working knowledge of systems engineering lifecycle processes (e.g., DoDI 5000.02, MIL-STD-973).
