CNC Machinist Lathe & Mill (Apprentice Level)

Position Summary
We're looking for an apprentice-level CNC Machinist to join our team. In this role, you'll work under the guidance of the Manufacturing Lead or Supervisor to set up and operate machines like lathes and mills to create or repair metal parts and tools. You'll read blueprints, follow instructions, and use measuring tools to ensure parts are made to exact specifications. This is a great opportunity to grow your skills and gain hands-on experience in a machine shop environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Read and understand blueprints, drawings, and part specifications

• Set up and operate CNC and manual machines (mills, lathes, grinders, drills, etc.)

• Follow work instructions to machine parts to specified tolerances

• Use measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges) to inspect your work

• Fit and assemble machined parts using hand and power tools

• Load tools and materials into machines and secure them properly

• Monitor machine speed and feed rates, making adjustments as needed

• Make minor program edits or write simple CNC programs if required

• Identify and report any machine or part issues

• Keep track of jobs using the Made2Manage (M2M) system

• Sort and manage scrap and leftover materials

Other Duties

• Record inspection results and report any deviations

• Keep your workspace clean and organized

• Follow all safety procedures and company policies

• Perform other tasks as needed

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required

• Minimum 1 year of experience in a machine shop

• Technical trade school training or machining certification preferred

• Willingness to complete a 4-year apprentice program

• Basic knowledge of shop math (arithmetic, algebra, geometry, trigonometry)

• Able to use measuring instruments accurately

• Able to read and understand CNC programs and make basic edits

• Good communication, organization, and time management skills
