Senior Interior Designer - Senior Living (San Francisco)

The San Francisco office of SmithGroup is looking for a Senior Interior Designer to join our team.
Working with us, you will :
- Lead the design efforts for all stages of a project, including leadership with the client , contractors, and internal team.
- Assist in management of projects through developing project scope , schedules, job production, quality, and fee management.
- Lead programming, conceptualization, development and integration of strategic design solutions.
- Consult with manufacturers, research and evaluate materials.
- Document architectural drawings.
- Assist in construction administration including responding to RFI's, preparing sketches and addenda (CCD's), and visiting the construction site to gather information and / or prepare a punch list.
- Oversee the design work of others to ensure integrated and cohesive design, supervise preparation of drawings for all project phases, and ensure guidelines, quality control, standards and details.
- Lead all phases of the design process including programming and developing workplace standards.
- Mentor junior staff and participate in performance coaching.
- Participate in the recruitment and interviewing process as requested.
The ideal candidate has :
- A bachelor's degree in Architecture, Interior Design or equivalent.
- Experience working in Mixed-Use, Hospitality and / or Senior Living.
- The ability to set design direction for junior staff.
- A varied and flexible aesthetic that meets diverse client needs.
- Minimum 10 years of related experience.
- Architectural or Interior Design registration required.
- LEED AP preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign programs.
- Technical competence and proven experience in schematic design through construction documents.
- The ability to contribute and participate in an interdisciplinary team environment.

SmithGroup offers competitive compensation and an excellent benefit package, including 401(k) and continuing educational reimbursement. We offer 3 weeks of paid time off within the first year of employment, with the option of purchasing additional time off, and pay for 8 federal holidays. We also offer an alternative work schedule that provides employees with an additional 15 days off per year (usually Fridays) to help with work / life balance.
