Mechanical Engineer

Location: Torrance, California

Salary Range: $75,000 – $95,000 per year

Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer to support the design, development, and improvement of high-reliability mechanical components used in aerospace, defense, and industrial applications. This role works cross-functionally with manufacturing, quality, and production teams to ensure products meet performance, reliability, and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for high-reliability applications

• Create and revise 3D models, drawings, and engineering documentation using CAD software

• Support new product introduction (NPI) from concept through production

• Perform tolerance analysis, stress analysis, and material selection for durability and performance

• Collaborate with manufacturing to improve producibility, reduce cost, and increase efficiency

• Investigate product failures, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions

• Ensure compliance with industry standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements

• Support testing, validation, and qualification of mechanical designs

• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and engineering change processes (ECOs)

• Provide technical support to production, quality, and customers when required

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field

• 3+ years of mechanical engineering experience in manufacturing, aerospace, or defense preferred

• Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar)

• Strong understanding of GD&T, tolerance stack-up, and mechanical design principles

• Experience with materials, machining, and manufacturing processes

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in aerospace, defense, or high-reliability manufacturing environments

• Knowledge of AS9100 / ISO quality systems

• Experience supporting NPI and production engineering

• Familiarity with FMEA, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement methods

• Understanding of environmental and mechanical testing standards

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• Combination of office and manufacturing floor environment

• May require standing, walking, and occasional lifting up to 25 lbs

• PPE required when working in production areas
