This position is located in the Medical Staff Services Department of the Veterans Home of California- Fresno and is responsible as primary care provider to provide complete and total medical care for assigned residents who reside at the home.

Working Conditions

Working overtime may be required of this position.

Employees of CalVet will be required to follow state or county public health guidelines and requirements enacted in accordance with infectious disease prevention and control.

Special Requirements

• The position(s) require(s) a(n) Valid CA Physician's & Surgeon's License. You will be required to provide a copy of your license prior to being hired.

Veterans may qualify for a CalVet Veterans Hiring Preference. Military service must be included in the Employment History section of the Employment Applications (STD. 678). The application package must include documentation of discharge, appropriate to the branch of service. The documentation must reflect a discharge/release under conditions other than dishonorable. If the candidate fails to include this information then the CalVet Veterans Hiring Preference shall not be granted in the recruitment.

Successful completion of a live scan and a pre-employment physical (including drug testing for certain civil service classifications) will be required.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Minimum Qualifications: Possession of the legal requirements for the practice of medicine in California as determined by the California Board of Medical Quality Assurance or the California Board of Osteopathic Examiners. (Applicants who are in the process of securing approval of their qualifications by the Board of Medical Quality Assurance or the Board of Osteopathic Examiners will be admitted to the examination, but the Board to which application is made must determine that all legal requirements have been met before candidates will be eligible for appointment.) AND
Completion of an internship in an approved hospital. (Applicants serving an internship will be admitted to the examination, but they may not be appointed until they meet the other requirements stated above.)
