About the role

We’re currently a team of six, looking to hire another founding software engineer to keep up with the demand for new features. You’ll work across the tech stack, taking ownership of features from end to end. You will have significant influence over the direction of the company, and your work will directly impact our largest customers. You should expect this role to be very cross-functional.

As a founding engineer at Momentic, you will

• Work five days a week with the Momentic team in our brand new SoMa office in San Francisco.

• Own the entire technical stack, from our foundational AI layer to the customer-facing web app. We’ll do our best to align your areas of focus with your skillset and interests.

• Speak with customers regularly to hear their feedback and support them.

• Be involved in roadmap prioritization and sequencing of our deliverables.

• Document everything as you go, and share knowledge with the team.

To succeed in this role, you will need to

• Be product-focused. You have customer empathy, and the things you build always keep the end user in mind. This is something that you care about deeply.

• Enjoy solving hard problems that have both product and technical ambiguity. You’ll need to be able to immerse yourself in unfamiliar topics and understand complex technical concepts to make informed decisions.

• Have a high sense of agency and accountability, you can prioritize your work without much outside input.

• Be genuinely passionate about startups and a deliverables-driven work style

Must-have qualifications

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.

• Hands-on and extensive TypeScript proficiency.

  • Proficiency with React and Next.js for frontend.

  • Proficiency with PostgreSQL and at least one cloud service provider for backend.

• Have great written and verbal communication.

• Be interested in AI and software testing tools.

Bonus qualifications

• Experience building products powered by LLMs.

• Experience building CI, testing, or other developer tools.

• Experience working with browser internals.

• Other experience that make you particularly knowledgeable about the deep, dark, undocumented corners of the web.
