Senior Revenue Accounting Manager

Our client, a leading biotech company, is seeking a Senior Revenue Accounting Manager to join their growing finance team.

Location:
South San Francisco, CA. This is a hybrid role, with in-office expectations 3 days per week.

Job Description:
This is a pivotal role focused on establishing and maintaining best-in-class revenue recognition processes in a complex and rapidly evolving industry. The position offers significant visibility, leadership opportunities, and the chance to shape scalable processes in a high-growth environment.

Responsibilities:

• Serve as the subject matter expert on revenue accounting rules (ASC 606 and GAAP), ensuring accurate application across diverse business models.
• Review complex contracts and partnership agreements to determine proper revenue recognition treatment and disclosure requirements.
• Develop and maintain revenue accounting policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and SOX controls.
• Lead the monthly and quarterly revenue close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, and detailed flux analysis.
• Partner cross-functionally with Commercial, Billing, Collections, and IT teams to optimize processes and systems for scalability and compliance.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 6 years of progressive accounting experience with a strong focus on revenue recognition (ASC 606).
• Deep knowledge of US GAAP and SOX compliance requirements.
• Proven ability to manage complex close processes and deliver accurate reporting.
• Excellent communication skills to explain technical accounting concepts to non-finance stakeholders.
