Cabrillo College is seeking a Director, Cabrillo College Children's Center who under general direction, plans, organizes, directs and integrates the operations of the Cabrillo College Children's Center in support of the Early Childhood Education (ECE) instructional program, directs the campus Children's Center demonstration lab; ensures regulatory compliance and financial stability; plans and develops support services for parents; and performs related duties as assigned. COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Salary: Full-time administrative/management assignment (205-day work year ), 12 months per year, Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., with evenings and/or weekends as needed. Current eight-step schedule ranges from $93,125 to $131,036 per year . Salary placement is determined by documented education and experience. A doctoral stipend of $4,885 per year is provided to eligible employees. Position scheduled to begin as soon as possible, pending continuation of categorical-funding pursuant to Ed Code 87470/8366 and Governing Board ratification. Cabrillo is unable to sponsor work visas. Benefits: Cabrillo College currently provides a generous benefit stipend for employees plus dependents that employees apply towards benefit selections for medical, dental, vision (optional) life, and short-term/long-term disability insurance provided at a share of cost on a pretax basis, CalSTRS Retirement and an employee assistance program (EAP). Educational administrators are required to join the State Teachers Retirement System (STRS) and as such must contribute 10.25% of their monthly salary to STRS on a pre-tax basis. Please see the Benefits link on the HR webpage for more information. Work-Life Balance: This opportunity is a full-time assignment, 12 months per year. This position enjoys a 205-day work schedule, which equates to an average of 37 self-selected non-work days , 19 set holidays, 3 individual responsibility days off annually, 12 days of sick leave accrue annually, 7 days of which can be used for Personal Necessity. - Plans, organizes, directs, controls, integrates and evaluates the work of the Children's Center Department; with faculty and staff, develops, implements and monitors work plans to achieve goals and objectives; contributes to development of and monitors performance against the annual department budget; manages and directs development, implementation and evaluation of plans, work processes, systems and procedures to achieve annual goals, objectives and work standards.
- Directs and manages the performance of staff; directs and oversees the selection of faculty and staff; establishes performance requirements and professional development targets for direct reports; regularly monitors performance and provides coaching for performance improvement and development including performance evaluations; accurate reporting of absence time; hears and acts on grievances; subject to concurrence by senior management and Human Resources, approves or takes disciplinary action, up to and including termination, to address performance deficiencies, in accordance with Board Policies, Administrative Procedures, Human Resources procedures and collective bargaining agreements.
- Provides day-to-day leadership and works with staff to ensure a high-performance, service-oriented work environment that supports achievement of the departments and District's mission, objectives and values; promotes workplace diversity, inclusion, cultural competency and a positive work environment.
- With members of senior management, participates in the development and implementation of District strategic plans, goals and objectives including Guided Pathways; leads and directs department staff in the development and application of new methodologies, technologies and business process improvements to achieve higher efficiency, productivity and customer service in department work processes.
- In collaboration with ECE faculty and Center staff, implements curriculum and maintains an interactive, intellectually stimulating, physically challenging and emotionally secure environment in the Children's Center; oversees daily Center activities and performs periodic inspections of facilities and program delivery; supports educational partnerships with families that reflect and support the ECE instructional program and addresses specific needs of individual children and families, including language and cultural values.
- Determines program eligibility for new and continuing student parents, and community members according to District and Children's Center guidelines; conducts parent orientations to ensure understanding of, involvement in, and adherence to Center policies/procedures by program families; advises parents on how to access resources and resolve issues impacting program eligibility; maintains family/student records.
- Oversees enrollment tracking; researches, identifies and assists with the solicitation and administration of grants, donations and other sources of funding; analyzes, evaluates and develops reports, recommendations and plans; ensures compliance with and coordinates implementation of all licensing regulations (including Title 5 and Title 22) pertaining to daily operational needs of Center children, families, staff and students; ensures all required files and documentation are maintained as required.
- Makes presentations to the Board of Trustees, Cabinet and other District and community groups.
- Chairs and/or serves on District committees and represents the District at local, regional, state and national conferences, meetings, workshops and training seminars.
- Participates in participatory governance committees, processes and initiatives.
- Demonstrates sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff.
OTHER DUTIES
- Meets with ECE faculty and collaborate on joint activities and program development with ECE department and Children's Center.
- Interfaces, mentors, and guides adult ECE students in the Center who are training to become teachers.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
- Understanding of, and sensitivity to, the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds, disability, and sexual orientation, of community college students, faculty and staff; AND
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree with major course work in child development, education or a related field; AND
- At least five (5) years of progressively responsible early childhood education experience, of which two (2) years were as a Child Development Teacher and three (3) years as a Child Development Program Director or Executive Director with strong fiscal knowledge; OR
- An equivalent combination of training and experience.

- Represent the District effectively in negotiations and dealings with the other educational institutions, the Chancellor's office, students and the public.
- Operate a computer, use standard business and enterprise software at an advanced level and use other standard business equipment including imaging systems.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- A valid California driver's license or ability to access and use alternative transportation.
- Must possess and maintain a Child Development Program Director Permit.
