WeVote has an open volunteering position for a Newsletter Writer / Content Developer (2-3+ hours per week) who wants to use their existing skills and learn new skills, while helping strengthen American Democracy.
The newsletter writer will be tasked with writing engaging and informative content that shares news, information, goals, and wins for our all-volunteer voter activation nonprofit. We are looking for a writer to join the team who will help draft content that aligns with our mission and values. You will assist with content planning and may also be asked to help with research, interviewing, and writing including write stories, volunteer profiles, event info, and related news, all designed to build awareness and do a bit of cheerleading. The ideal candidate will have excellent writing and editing skills and experience working with volunteers and/or in a nonprofit setting.About Us
WeVote is a nonpartisan get-out-the-vote nonprofit startup, and a celebrated Fast Forward nonprofit technology grantee . WeVote is a movement of over 120 passionate volunteers (starting with the founders) who are building open-source mobile technologies that touch and mobilize millions of voters on Election Day. We observe that many voters are busy, distracted, and impatient. - Be part of strategic conversations with the content team about content needs and messaging strategy
- Develop engaging copy that inspires voters to get ready to vote, and encourage their friends and family to vote

- Able to devote 2-3+ hours per week, with at least 1-2 hours available during business hours
