HR Data Analyst, Fixed Term Contract

Deepmind
Mountain View, CA

Snapshot

We are looking for someone who is passionate about enabling every employee to do their best work, by bringing a data lens to strategic business problems around our People & Culture strategy.

If you are looking for a role that blends HR and analytical skills this is the role for you.

There are two profiles that would be great for this role:

  • Profile 1: You’ve been working in an HR role for a number of years, you have learnt some analytical skills to make you even more effective. You would really like to level up your technical skills and try a full time data role.

  • Profile 2: You are an experienced data analyst or data scientist working in the HR space or really interested in the space.

This role is a Fixed-Term contract, ending in December 2026.

Note: This role focuses on leveraging data analytics and data science techniques – particularly advanced SQL and statistical methods – to drive strategic decisions and generate insights, NOT deep machine learning model development.

  • You will become a key strategic partner understanding areas well enough to propose, champion changes and drive them to completion.

  • You will work with internal AI tools to scale your work across a larger stakeholder base.

  • Areas of work could include: employee engagement, retention, recruitment.

Key responsibilities

  • Strategic Partnership: Work directly with stakeholders, including senior leaders, to identify, scope, and prioritise high-impact analytical questions.

  • Analysis : Conduct rigorous, end-to-end analyses to uncover insights, model trends, and answer complex questions.

  • Data Storytelling & Communication: Translate complex analytical findings into clear, compelling narratives and actionable recommendations for diverse audiences (technical and non-technical) through presentations, reports, and dashboards.

  • Team Contribution : Share knowledge, contribute to the team's analytical roadmap, and help improve our overall processes and best practices.

What We Can Offer You:

  • Direct Strategic Impact: Your analysis and recommendations will directly inform critical investment and strategic decisions, influencing our ability to achieve our mission.

  • Leadership Exposure: Work closely with senior leaders and key decision-makers, honing your communication and influencing skills.

  • Collaborative Environment: Be part of a supportive and highly skilled data & analytics group, learning from peers and contributing to a culture of analytical excellence.

Useful Skills for both profiles:

  • AI Fluency: Ability and curiosity to use AI tools practically and effectively in your work, with a recognition and awareness of AI’s responsible use, risks, and limitations.

  • AI for Data: You are excited by the way AI could transform data roles and are interested in spending 20% of your time thinking about and building this to scale your impact.

  • Python for Data Analysis: Proficiency in Python and common data analysis libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, Scikit-learn, Matplotlib/Seaborn).

  • Data Visualization/Dashboarding: Experience creating effective dashboards and visualizations using tools like Tableau, Looker, Google Data Studio, or similar.
